I've posted a couple times over the past week, but haven't done a formal intro for myself until now. It's been 14 years since I owned a 4wd truck or SUV. I was heavy into autocross and drag racing, and stayed deep into the mitsubishi, bmw, and mercedes scenes. I've moved on past that, and have found myself longing for a land cruiser. When I was into offroad trucks, I remember wanting one so bad I could taste it.

This past Monday, I bought a 98 Land Cruiser with 167k. It has only had one owner, and is in good shape mechanically. The body has the usual scratches and door dings. The interior is in pretty good shape with the exception of the driver's seat, which looks pretty worn. I had a P0155 code active, so I threw a couple upstream o2 sensors at it, and the code hasn't returned. I also had to replace the center muffler, which sucked while lying on my back in the driveway.

When sitting and staring at the LC, I noticed the front end was way lower than the rear, and all the tires were dryrotted. I couldn't let either of those issues go, so I took a 3 hour trip to pick up a brand new set of 2015 Tundra wheels and tires. After installing them, I measured the front to back ride height, and the front was 2" lower than the back. This might be ok for some, but it annoyed the crap out of me. I wrenched up the torsion bars, checked droop, and was much happier with the end result. I just dropped the truck off for an inspection so I can get my permanent tags. Next on the list is a stereo overhaul, then maybe some suspension work. I have a feeling this will turn into another addiction.

Below is a couple cell phone pics I took when I was installing wheels today. I hated the old wheels so much that I forgot to take a before pic.

Forgot to mention, I'll be putting 1" hubcentric spacers on the wheels so I can space the front wheels out enough to put the center caps on. The LC has some big azz hubs.

I'm in Md near Baltimore. I haven't decided what to do with the stock rims, but I'll probably put them up on CL.

It's always an "addiction".

Congrats on the new addition and welcome to 'Mud.

Welcome to Mud! Don't forget an alignment is needed after torsion bar adustment or any suspension modifications.

I'm getting that done today before the inspection. The toe was already out and there was too much positive camber before I cranked on the tbars. Now it's REALLY bad.

Congrats! Tundra wheels look real good!

These rigs are a great balance to a fun car. I DD the LC in the winter and DD / autox / track the M3 in the summer.

love the green. my favorite color. I was wondering how those tundra wheels would look on a 100. Looks Good

Thanks everyone! I was pretty worried that the tundra wheels would look like crap; I was pleasantly surprised. When I get it back from the shop, I have to do some measurements to see which size spacer to run that will make them look a little more aggressive. Right now the tires are tucked up under the fender wells, and it makes it look to tame. I'll have to do that and get rid of the running boards, then take some better pics.

I like it, looks just like mine, except you've got shiny new wheels! I've been wondering what these would look like on my green truck, so thanks for taking the plunge! Now I just have to wear out my tires before I go to 18's...

Just got done with the inspection and alignment. I only got hit for a blown tag light and inner axle boot clamps. That makes me pretty happy since I now have extra money for aftermarket stuff. I just ordered a set of 1.25" spidertraxx wheel spacers, and should have them next week.
