Hey guys,
I'm pretty new to the forum. I've posted a couple times and have read through almost all of the previous posts. I have a few things I want to go over. First off, I love the 01 LC I just bought! It has 68K miles and has all features including nav. In the past I have owned a 93 Wrangler, 99 LR Disco II, and a 96 LR Disco XD. All of them have been set up for off-roading. I live in Louisville KY.
With all that said, I am trying to learn as much as possible about current parts and modifications I can add to my LC. One thing I have learned over the years is not to get too excited and buy something just because it is available. I have, more times than I would like to admit, bought something only to re-do it better a year or two later becaused I didn't research it enough before I bought it. With this vehicle, I am looking to build it right the first time with the best parts I can get.
The first mods I am looking at adding are suspension and tires and possibly sliders. On the suspension, I am a big fan of OME. First question, I have seen the 866 spring listed as the HD spring for the rear. I have also seen people mention the 863? (I think) as an alternative. I plan to lift now, but definitely will add an HD rear bumper in the future. Do you think it is wise to go with 863 now knowing I will want it when I add a rear bumper? Or is it just too much spring without the additional weight of the HD rear bumper?
Second question, should I go ahead and add the OME torsion bars even though it might be next year before I add front and rear bumpers? Will maxing out the stock bars make the ride stiffer? I am used to driving rigs with stiff suspensions and the stock ride is just way too soft for my tastes. Does the OME add a beefier bar and stiffen the ride at the same time? I have already decided that I will use N133 shocks on the front and add a Slee diff drop.
I would be very grateful for any experience and/or advice you would care to share.
Thanks,
Greg
