Hey guys! I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. This is my first formal post; I've made a few posts, but nothing of worth.

I have been lurking Mud for about 2 years now. I found this site while on my search for my first Cruiser and I finally picked one up back in Oct. from a fellow Mud member down in S. Denver. The truck is a 2000 with currently ~165k on the clock and I have fallen in love. By far the best and most capable vehicle I've ever owned; very easy to work on too!

So far I have added pfran's interior LED kit and reverse lights. The running boards were removed by the PO. I've modded the power outlets to always be on (link) and did the highbeam/foglight mod (link) from RedRob's tlcfaq page (which is incredible btw, what a great site!). I replaced my headlights and fogs with HIRs, which was desperately needed after driving through a snow storm a few weeks ago and realizing I was quickly out driving my headlights (if you watched the Broncs whipe the Pats in OT, you know the snow storm I'm talking about :)). And after doing my 165k service and rotating my tires, I snapped a wheel stud and made my first call to CDan a week ago! What a great guy, very knowledgeable and polite. I actually just talked to him today while ordering new pads and shims.

Without dragging this on, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this such an incredible knowledge base, it has surely helped me out countless times (and seeing how my CV clips just came in yesterday from pfran, I'm sure you guys will help me out in the future as well!)

Welcome!

Your 2 years of lurking are paying off! You practically had your truck modded before you bought it! Welcome.

Hah! I was making a list of items to upgrade, that is for sure. It was well worth being patient. The truck is from CA originally and I don't think there is a spec of rust on any bolt underneath... sure makes working on it easy!

Also, If there are any folks on here in the northern CO area (FoCo, Loveland, Windsor) that could recommend a mechanic that is good with Cruisers, that would be excellent. I have a metal on metal sound coming from the rear suspension when I hit bumps or go over speed humps, that I can't seem to diagnose. I have been under the truck numerous times and wiggled just about everything I could, but cannot identify it. Its not really a clunk, more of a higher pitched clang/rattle.

Welcome @willbt

I like your first post! My wife will be appreciative if I can mod the power outlets to always be on.

As for service recommendations, I take anything I can't handle to Nelsen's Auto Tech on Mountain in Fort Collins. I have known the owner for a long time. If you have the luxury of time, and can take it to Robbie down in Boulder, I highly recommend him as well: Adventure Offroad - Rising Sun Member Forums

Have you heard of either Rising Sun, or Horsetooth 4Wheelers?

I am in the Windsor area, so very cool to have a neighbor! And yes, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Broncos beat the Pats...

Thank you for the shop recommendations! I had heard Robbie's name, but couldn't recall it. I will definitely save his and Nelsen's information for when shtf.

Yea, I could tell something was wrong with that wheel nut when I broke all loose rather easily except for the last one that just keep twisting and twisting, then POP! Oh well, I got to meet CDan, so all is good lol.

welcome and congrats. am a little south of you in Denver. as for your rattle check the lower shock bushings, if worn they could be the cause.

Also, Ali, thank you for the tip. I'll crawl back under her this weekend when my garage finally (hopefully?) dries out from all this snow and check the bushings. Thanks again!

Send us some pics in the snow! We're missing the white stuff here in the Boston area. Supposed to be 60 deg here on Christmas - very bizarre and depressing for the kids and us skiers!
