Hey Guys, Ive been researching on these forums for a while. I was about to pull the trigger on a local ( Houston, TX ) 2004 LC with 56k original miles but somethings never lined up and I was slightly hesitant. So before I went to the bank to make a cashiers check for the 04 LC, I looked online one last time. There she was, a beautiful 104k miles LX in Dallas. Within 1 hour, I'd left work, went home , showered, grabbed my girlfriend and hit the road in my 2011 BMW M3 with tons of classy/tasteful mods.

We got to Park Place Porsche in Dallas, this LX was so clean they kept it on the lot next to a bunch of cars worth well over $150k. They were probably the most professional experience Ive ever seen at a dealership. Shortly after arriving, I locked down a good price on my trade and the LX , loaded my stuff, signed the papers and for the first time since I was 20, I paid off a vehicle and drove home debt free. I got this LX for $18k , paid no tax due to trade and because I had equity, I paid very little on top of the trade and paid off the LX. Its had the major services ( water pump, timing belt , etc ) recently done too! Then we started driving back to Houston. Made it home just shy of 1am.

Now, a couple cool things.....

The LC I was looking at in Houston didn't match the carfax mileage with the actual mileage, not a bad thing since typos happened but the LC was off carfax or any sort of registration for a while 6 years. As in, no one drove it. ( or so the story goes ). The LC had old cracked tires which lined up with it sitting for 6 years. But something was right about it. It drove amazing. Got the to agree on 18250 Tax/Title/Registration. But still, the interior was dirty, the tires were bad, and it'd be smoked in, the major service was around the corner and I dont know. I REALLY wanted it. But it didn't sit 100%.

Now, the flip side..... the LX has more miles, but the interior is mint aside for a slightly worn drivers butt seat. It doesnt have a reverse camera ( any DIYs? ) and the nav seems outdated ( probably can fix this with a software update? ) BUT! It is in MUCH better physical shape, great tires, all recent services and..... I paid $18k total ( but alot less due to my 2011 M3 trade )

I think this spontaneous trip to Dallas paid off greatly. I LOVE this LX.

One thing I did realize driving 200 miles home..... the hydro suspension is the reason you have the freeway steer.... like when the LX has to be constantly corrected to drive a straight line. Its not that annoying but I'd like to see if there are any remedies. Again, I think for such a large rig, I NEED a reverse camera... any DIY?

Congratulation to your nice ride. Me envy!!! :D As for the freeway drift, it could be uneven tire wear, alignment off issue or even as simple as incorrect tire pressure on 4 wheels.

I like your color :) I would make sure tire pressure is at 30 lbs cold all around. If still a problem do alignment. 50k or 100k not much difference in a 100 series since you should get 100's of thousands of trouble free miles just follow the book on maintance. Enjoy and welcome to the club.

Yep. Proper alignment can help with that issue. I had one of my trucks acting like that and it solved the problem. Just let the tech know.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll check the PSI right now. Try to get the alignment check/done soon too!

SEUtah - mine is a 2003, but I thought the newer interior came with all those options. I guess I was wrong. Darn!

Does anyone run LX570 wheels as a daily?

I'm thinking of getting some as they look very good and clean. And then turning my factory 18inch into my off-road wheels with some big tires on them along with the slee AHC height locker mod.

That'd probably be ideal for now until you get rid of the AHC, if you choose so.

Good to see another 100 in Houston. I drive mine everyday and love it (besides the gas mileage)

How reliable is the AHC when in full height ? Like should I be thinking of a lift kit? I don't want to lose any comfort.

Thats a great color combination! I think that LX570 wheels would look great, I personally like the 17 inch wheels though with some meaty tires.

PS, you had to have gotten some money back from your M3 trade no? if the LX was 18k the traded M3 could have not gotten you less than like 35-40k right? if not I need to start looking into M3's!

either way congrats on the purchase and no car payments!

The M3 trade in value was in that range. But I had $12k worth of mods..... I only had a little equity in it as I wasn't ever in a hurry to pay it off.

All in all, I feel I got the best deal I could have and I'm happy.

The 20inch LX570 wheels would be strictly for driving daily... I think they look great and would have very good highway tires on them so I wouldn't be shafting my MPG any worse.

I would advise asking that question about the 20's on the 200 series forum. From what I've read you will not like the ride. It will be kind of like your M3 without the handling advantage ;)

You know nothing John Snow....

I'll miss TWS. It was such a great track. Good looking M3!

As for your question for AHC, with maintenance it will last but I always read about the globes failing on higher mileage vehicles. My thought is run it until you are tired of fixing it and go with static suspension. We're talking years down the road since you've so low miles. Keep up with the maintenance (fluids, checking up on the globes) and you should get many years of service out of it.
