New here. 2008 LC bought it from one of my closest friends who picked it up used w/ <5k miles in 2009. In 2019 he did some upgrades that include ARB BP51 shocks and a nice roof rack. Otherwise all stock.
Came on the forum because the driver front BP51 has a leaky seal. ARB doesn't rebuild them/doesn't have parts to rebuild them. Seems like a crime to have off road shocks where a failed seal leads to a total replacement. Was looking for information on that. I don't need "real" off road shocks and the cost of ownership for the BP51s seem somewhat crazy if every 70k miles I need to spend $2k replacing them... Logging roads is probably as off road as this LC will see. Is there a ride or comfort reason to have them?
Primary purpose of the LC is "farm car" to take us 3 hrs to our family farm or "snow car" up to Mt Hood during the winter. Also serves as "spare care" for when one of our kids is home from college.
Rely on Landcruiser NW in Portland for maintenance & service. They are wonderful.
Grew up with a '74 FJ40. My brother bought it in 1982 and we kept it on our farm as a utility vehicle, so when I got my license I drove it for 4-5 years. My father sold it when I was out of the country for graduate school.

Welcome! Sounds like OEM shocks would work fine for your use case. They give a comfortable ride, are reliable, and are relatively inexpensive. Mount some appropriate tires on it, give it a good preventative maintenance and enjoy.

Congratulations 👏🏿 and sorry OP ... But no worries, many options there . IMHO, in order
Toyota as San said
Blistein as Ryan sais
Dobinsons I will add these.

Enjoy the new toy !!! 🪀

PS1: this intro w/o pics is a sacrilege.
PS2: I actually have a Toyota set with less than 75k miles on it that need to sell one day of my life 😂
