Hi all, proud new owner of a '99 100 series LC with 205k miles. Won't post pics quite yet. It's white, small tires, running boards and all. You know what it looks like. I haven't been this stoked on a car since I was a teenager. The first few weeks with it have been spent working out the kinks. Oil change, alignment, balancing tires(took care of steering wheel shimmy at freeway speeds), trying to dry out wet carpet from the PO having it detailed prior to selling it. I've also taken it to the mountains every weekend since buying it, as well as skiing yesterday. It so solid in ice and snow. Even on 9 year old tires. Next steps will be 285/75-16 KO2's, sliders, and a roof basket(hopefully one that doesn't cover the sun roof). I'd also like to figure out some small nicks in the paint with light rust, and a spot on the tail gate where the top door hits it and rubs the paint off.

It's both inspiring and frustrating to see everyone's builds on this forum. Inspiring because they look awesome. Frustrating because it costs money. It'll be a slow road for me.

Welcome to the cruiser and hello from another Seattleite.

Not getting much to dry today with the way it is raining and how humid it has been lately. You may want to head to Fisheries Supply on 34th by Gasworks park. They have chemical dryers that absorb moisture from the air. Worked great when I had a sunroof leak in my 80. It got all the residual moisture out of the truck surprisingly fast. They are not expensive and work really well.

Thanks, cap80. I'll check that out. Yeah, it's been tough to get any ventilation for more than a couple hours at a time lately. It's a bummer to close the windows and doors and watch it fog up from all the moisture. Between some heavy vacuuming and a detail shop in Ballard that was nice enough to take it and air it out with fans overnight I think I'm almost there. Still some moisture under the floor mat yesterday on the drivers side. Maybe these chemical dryers can put it over the edge.

Welcome.

I shampooed my carpet once, not getting overly wet but wet. Then I saw owners manual recommendation stating: should not use a wet shampoo, water can lead to rusting of floor boards.

Here are some more specifics:
PO, who drove it around 3k miles a year and only took it camping once, bought it from a friend who's ex-wife used it as her daily driver. She apparently rear ended someone at some point, no structural damage says the Carfax. Was repaired and purely cosmetic says local LC specialist. Seems like maybe got rear ended at the same time, and that might explain the tailgate doors rubbing.
Maintenance records a long ways back always done at Toyota dealership.
Timing belt, etc. done at 189k.
Recent OEM shock replacement, which I'll stick with for awhile.
Starter replaced at dealership by PO a few years back.
Rear passenger window won't roll all the way up in it's own. Dealership quoted me $700 to replace the motor and regulator. Needless to say I declined.
It runs smooth, strong and quiet, no issues there.

Welcome to the '99 UZJ100 club, its a very small but special cohort. Like the kids who rode the short bus in school :)
