I hope it won't look like that.

Yikes.

I normally pinch off a few inches longer than that, but whatever keeps you sane....

Not the best looking one so far! I will go for older model since it looks better and will be less $$$.

mostlikely the model will be refine after all it needs to pass the Australian out back test before it comes to the states.

looks like a Dodge! Another wedge shaped ugly

i actually read that the lx will be worked off the sequoia for the us because of cost ;the land cruiser will still be out of japan for the rest of the world

You are correct the LX and the US LC will both be Sequoia based for us in the US. I'm happy with what I have whether the newer version is gorgeous or hideous.

Tad

the land cruiser should still be the original I think only the lx is gonna go i think toyota will make a mistake if they decide not to bring the lc

I may be wrong(but i doubt it) but there wont be a LC bassed off a Sequoia, what we get will be made in Japan and will be the same for the most part(like it is now) as whatever the rest of the world gets to replace the current 100 series.

oh man does that thing look fugly! :-( I will be very disappointed if that is the turn out of the new LC. I'd be happy if it kept the same size or even a tab bit smaller.

john's right, of course, the new l/c will not be based off the sequoia - it is it's own beast

i hadn't seen the "spy" pic before, but it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't far off. i actually don't think it looks too bad. there are still people, of course, who think the 100 is fugly compared to an 80, so to each their own. it's kind of like having a child with a weird birthmark or something, no matter what, if it's a cruiser, i'm gonna love it all the same!

ps new cruiser will probably be larger than the current model

Looks like a cross between a Dodge Ram and Tundra!

I'm not 100% sure, but in the magazine I picked up yesterday said (I think) that one of the engine options offered (at least here in Japan) will be a 5.5 liter(litre) V8 with twin-turbochargers producing something in the neighborhood of 300hp and gobs of torque. I don't have the magazine with me right now, but will try to get to it tomorrow.

I hope that powerplant will be offered in the US, too, no matter how ugly it might turn out to be.

It's hard to judge "looks" with some of the new designs I find I don't like them at first and then after several months I think they look great. I have a couple of friends that think 100 series LC's look like crap. I think they are works of art. I had a Acura NSX and thought it was good looking from all but one angle. I just hope they offer a great diesel engine in the next US Landcruiser, just like they are talkin about offering in the new 3/4 and 1 ton Tundras. I read they were talkin about a Hino diesel.

130 Series

Here is what I've read in the MAG X (automobile spy/gossip magazine, sort of...):

They think that it will be offered with (at least in Japan LC130 and/or Lexus LX) 4L V6 (AT/MT), 4.7L V8 with VVT-i (AT), 5.5L( V8/AT) and 4.4L V8 TT diesel (I said 5.5 and forgot to state that it was diesel yesterday. Ooops!).

The new 4.7L unit with VVT-i will be offered next year. And the 4.4 diesel unit will borrow components from the Euro 2.2L I6 (pistons, valves, etc...) and will resemble two of the engines fused together.

The hp of the diesel with twin-turbo chargers is around 300 and the torque figure is somewhere around 60kg/m (somebody do the math?) with 6sp AT.

The 5.5L will be the bored-uped version of the new Celsior (LS) 5L gaholine engine, using aluminum to save weight. This engine will also be used in Tundra and Sequoia.

The new "F" platform will be shared by Tundra, Sequoia, LC and LX. The front suspension will also be shared (double-wishbone), however they will have different rear suspension set-ups. For example, Tundra (leaf), 130 (rigid 4-link) and LX/Sequoia (independent?).

The drawing (not a pic) resembles that of Toyota's "FTX" tha was featured in this year's Tokyo Motor Show with raked (slanted) headlight assemblies.

In-demand Tundra will start production around October of 2006 with LC130/LX following a few months behind and Sequoia lagging behind Tundra by about 10 mos.

Anyway, this is not something I made up, but what I've read. FWIW and FYI. :D

Looks like Tad was sorta right, they are sharing a "platform" with the tudra/sequaia

well, platform is a very loose sort of sharing anyway. right now i think the camry, avalon, es 330, rx 330, and highlander all share the same platform. quite a different mix of vehicles imho
