Thank's to Junk first, but the AC dryer relocation kit I have totally different than yours :flipoff2:

Now my questions, Was it hard or easy to remove the driver side headlight? Also any tips or suggestion for receiver / dryer removal?

Looks good. I still don't get it though since most ac guys told me for the dryer to work it had to be at the lowest point in the system. Hence why Toyota put it there to start with. Dunno

Removing the headlight is easy - just move the corner light, then the lower signal light, then it's 4 10mm from there.

Removing the dryer is easy. Just cut it off as since you will be replacing the lines you'll contaminate it - get a new dryer.

BTW, they did tell you that for the dryer to work it has to be a certain height right? So you'll have to put on J springs and 33s :flipoff2: :D

Why would the dryer have to be at the lowest point of the system? That would be an odd design? Besides, on the GM AC system, the dryer/accumilator is next to the firewall by the evaporator.

You might want to consider replacing the expansion valve if the system is opened and/or contaminated. In Japanese cars, it's typically in the fan box that also houses the evaporator inside the car.

Dryer and expansion valve (or orifice tube in GM AC systems) should be replaced every time the system is opened.

Watch it though. That's been done before only to have guys come back really ticked off about something not fitting. Just like airlaird accusing Landpimp of lying to him on the 80 list.

I'd recommend everyone wait to see if it actually works and fits first. Especially since the ac system would have to be recharged and that adds $$.

Installed yesterday:flipoff2:

don't forget to tell us where you got it. It looks great, and gives me hope for building a bumper that doesn't have to take special consideration to protect the dryer.

Thread-revival!

I found a complete A/C Dryer setup from a '91 FJ80 at a Pick-N-Pul. The setup is a direct bolt-on to my '96...lines, dryer, bracket, all bits were there and fit my FZJ. This mod places the dryer in the same place as the JDM version between the DS battery box and headlamp. Likely the parts are identical to the "JDM" ones thus no need to go offshore for parts (sorry Mot). I would give a call to CDan to verify if you want new bits, or find an early FJ in the junkyard for a cheap alternative.

Now, I just have to do the install on mine before summer and get the gas recharged.

JDM is for "Japanese Domestic Market". So JDM is not a person or company. Fellow-mudder MOT can supply you with JDM parts, by visiting his contacts at Toyota directly in Japan.

I would check with CDan (CruiserDan) at American Toyota in Albequerque first to see if he can still get the '91 bits, which would give you the same kit. American Toyota is a site sponsor/vendor and Dan is the man for parts.

Steve

What's JDM's contact info? Website?

Chris
