I wanted to intro myself and let you know how my first week has gone. I have been on and off here for about 5 years as I planned the purchase of my first land cruiser. I was waiting for my kids to be big enough to enjoy it with me and I hit it perfect because they love it. I also lucked out and got a great deal on a soccer mom 2005 with 165K and dealer service every 5K since new.

In the first week of ownership my changer crapped out and I am stuck repeatedly listening to my only tape (Van Halen 5150, purchased when I was 9 over 30 years ago). Searching for a fix I ran into posts conjuring fears of catastrophic nav failure, crazy repair and part costs, and a number of other sobering posts.

In between those moments of fear I drove this thing and the joy is overwhelming. I love love love this vehicle. On my 3rd day of ownership I took it off-road on my families property and couldn't believe how great it took our mountain roads compared to our other vehicles. I am definitely hooked!

Thanks for all your help and guidance up to this point!

got the same thing going on with an 07 and o2 sensors. I hate a check engine light!

There is something about kids and Land Cruisers! Welcome to the forum! There are lots of folks who have pulled working CD changers, so look around in the classifieds and post that you need one. There are some 'spensive parts on these things, but I'll bet your '05 will be fine for years.

Just slap some big ol Mud Terrains on it and you won't be able to hear the radio over the hum!
Seriously, welcome back and enjoy your 05, I know I do!

Hey - just be glad it was Van Halen in there, and not Sonny and Cher!

Get the BT module, if alone for phone calls it's worth it to me...but you can use it for music too.

Is your cassette stuck inside? I want to say the last time I tried using the tape deck 5yrs ago, it wanted to eat the cassette and not spit it back out. Luckily for me it was one of those auxillary adapter tapes with a cord attached, but IIRC I still used a pair of kelly forceps to help pull the cassette out. Good luck!

Tape deck seems to work great. I threw away all my old tapes a couple years ago but I this one was hanging around. So for now it's 5150 but as soon as I get enough time to crack the dash I am going to install the BT45-TOY
