Hey everyone,

I figured it was about time to start a build thread. I am planning out a bunch of projects this year and wanted to keep a running tab of the things I have done. I am attempting to do videos of all the installs and will post them here.

Here is the first video we did right after we bought the cruiser. We do a full walk aorund and talk about why we bought it.


Here is the list of things we have done so far.

  1. Replaced timing belt and T-Fittings
  2. Replaced all fluids
  3. Replaced the hood struts
  4. Replaced the interior lighting with LEDs
  5. Installed a USA Spec BT45-TOY for bluetooth audio
  6. Replaced the Subwoofer with a Pyle PLPW6D
  7. Replaced the door speakers with JBL Stage 602’s
  8. Removed the running boards
  9. Installed custom built drawers with L-Track Load Rails
  10. Installed custom built tailgate cover

I remember you saying something before, that is awesome! Hope you are enjoying your cruiser!
 
Here is a video after we got the 33" Falken WildPeak AT3W tires.
 
After a late night wager with my wife I wrote and produced this music video. I know it is terrible but man it was fun.
 
Yeah, loving the 98 LX I bought. Been to Colorado 3x and offroaded the heck out of it up there. That tailgate cover video/build is sweet. I'm thinking of doing a "fancy" one with a cedar plank/veneer top.

I bet that will turn out nice! I am surprised I haven't seen more DIY versions than I have. It was a pretty easy project considering how much better it is than the nasty carpet!

Me too. I was shocked at how "cheap" the carpeted tailgate cover is/was. I changed out my tail lights and was let down by the carpet over cardboard that was the OEM cover. The ONE thing Toyota cheaped out on with the cruisers I guess.
