Hello everyone.

New to Cruisers, new to site.

I just bought a 76 fj40, and need to replace the windshield.

Where should i look to buy one?

I havent found many FJ;s in junkyards around here.

thanks,

Jason

It's a flat piece of glass. An automotive glass shop can cut one for you. I believe you can still get them from Toyota, too. If you'rer looking for the frame, they're a little harder to come by. There are some available in fiberglass.

Welcome to Mud.

Welcome.

Jim nailed it.

Local glass boys should be able to take care of you for less than 100.00us.

Good luck!

1st thing.. Remove the round jeep fender flares..

Cruiser's have angular fender flares.

Get a set of TJ fender flares ;)

BTW, did his head go through it from inside the truck or the front . . . . and are you eventually planning on removing it??

As mentioned above, a glass shop can do a windshield cheap. I paid $95 for an OEM from my local Toyota dealership about three years ago.

nice rig....get in touch with the Upstate Crusier boys in the Club section.

Jason, where are you located at in the Upstate? Have you been in contact with Upstate Cruisers yet?

Im near Clemson and have seen some of the upstate cruiser guys on here. I need to introduce myself.

Its going to be a while before i'll be joining them on any rides though, i just put mine in the shop to have the transmission rebuilt.

I ordered one from my local Toyota dealer (Dan won't ship a windshield) for my 74. It was nice with tinting and Toyota label etched into the corner of the glass. Problem was it was for a 76 and later Cruiser (3/4 of an inch wider). They thought it was mismarked so they ordered another ... The numbers were right but the glass was still wrong. Looks like Toyota doesn't offer the windshield glass for the early FJ40s. Ended up going to a glass shop and getting safety glass cut for it for $75.

I would check with your local dealer because I know they can get the glass for a 76. I asked for a discount and they gave me 30% off :)

Would have been nice to get the tinting on the top like the Toyota windshield had.
