From what I can read that quite a disclaimer / health warning printed on the label....must be good stuff!

Fan clutch rebuilds

I only have 1.5 liters, no extra,,, :p

Must be one big fan clutch. :)

Remember looking at putting a MB fan clutch back together, and they recommended buying the stuff from a Toyota dealership, since they were one of the few that carried it.

Just wondering if you could make the equivalent of the old solid fan clutch replacements by injecting a glue into a blown clutch and just letting it solidify. Might not work outside of Arizona due to temp issues, and it would be mucho loud, but might be a bodge to let you get a couple of weeks till the next paycheck kinda fix. Had a 70 impala that I replaced the clutch with a solid AL block, and I thus had A/C that blew frost in the middle of summer. Ah, those were the days.

My normal fill is ~50ml, so ~30 clutches.

There are a ton of ways to lock a clutch, but in my experience it's not a good idea. The clutch fan setup isn't designed to turn shaft speed and bad things can and do happen, fan explosions cause lots of $$$ collateral damage. The viscus clutch can only deliver so much torque, so the fan only turns so fast, regardless of shaft rpm. In other words, after a certain shaft rpm, the fan will turn the same rpm, no matter how high the motor is revved. A clutch, setup with the needed fluid for the conditions, works very well. As far as the cost thing goes, it's what $8 for the fluid, so why destroy a good clutch?:hillbilly:

Howdy! Glue might be too messy. I used to have an 84 Nissan 280ZX that the PO fixed the failed fan clutch by drilling a hole into it, then installing a big screw thru the whole thing. Worked, but it was VERY NOISY! John

The stuff is working great, not that I doubted it, but nice to confirm. If any locals want to do their clutches your welcome to some.

i might take ya up on this kevin. just put a new blue hub in, took out some of the factory fill, and replaced with 10k, but still not getting a good roar at start up, and AC starts warming in stop and go.

We put 20K in Rob's blue hub today. Sounds/feels good, will see how it preforms.

Which one did you try that's working great?

i would like to take you up on your offer - but don't have blue hub and would have to arrange a trip up.

What clutch is on your rig? IMHO the new type blue hub is a good clutch, but some of the older clutches are better.

Kevin,
It happened once last year, and happened again today. AC stopped blowing cold and after 5 minutes it kicked back "cold" again. Is it time for a blue hub with new fluid, or do you think mine is one of those older clutches that you think is better? Im about ready to cut a hole in the roof and put in a low profile AC unit you see on vans!!!
