I posted on FB and someone suggested I post here.

North Carolina peeps! My husband, Denis, and I are going to be in NC next week, Monday night thru Friday afternoon, staying in Marion. Unfortunately, we won't have our 80 with us, as we're driving down (from NH) with a friend and then will be flying home. We'd like to meet up with other Toyota Land Cruiser fans and, if you'd be so kind as to take us 4-wheeling. We are completely free Tuesday and Wednesday, the 3rd and 4th. We have to be back to the house in Marion by 2 pm on Thursday. On Friday, we have to be ready to leave by 2 pm for the airport. Pictures are of our rigs. We would love to meet new Land Cruiser friends!

Nice looking rigs. Marion's not my neck of the woods. Hell, I need to get MYSELF out wheelin' some too, lol. I know we have some folks sorta' close, but not sure you'll have much luck for a mid-week run like that. Hopefully it works out and I do hope you enjoy your visit to The Olde North State!

Welcome to NC! That’s a part of the state that’s a little light on ONSC’ers but someone here might be up for a drive if they’re not at GMSTR in TN. @jvalex might chime in. My wife and I would love to head that way for a couple days but we’ll be way south by then.

I'm working seven days a week at this point, sorry. Sad to miss out on some new friends and wheeling. If you're on social media, happy to hand you over to some local Toyota 4x4 groups.

I had to look it up. Marion is north west of Charlotte. Most of us hit Uwharrie National Forest for offroad trails however there are some forest roads west of Marion that might offer some exploration options.

Thanks. I knew it was a long shot (mid week), but I figured I'd try. If not wheeling, meeting up for a bite to eat would be cool too.

We are on FB and in some Toyota 4x4 groups, probably more in our area though. Which ones should I find?

Can’t do much for you while you’re in Marion, but PM if you me when you get home, I’m in Bow.

ONSC - they’re 45 min East of Asheville, is HC still a thing or did it get shut down?

It's still a thing.

1.5 hours wouldn't be too bad for HC run. Now, to find someone to take them!

I’d be down to lead, but the drive is 15 hours for me now.

Idk maybe worth it for the a brewery tour brewery, maybe a bite at The Admiral, post run breakfast at Biscuit Head ...damn I miss NC.

ok enough hijacking, back to the OP.

I think I might want to move to NC, that's why we're visiting. Can't wait to chat with you. I'll definitely message you when we're back.

OK, will do!

What is the hc run?
Hurricane Creek. I don’t have a map to share with you offline, but if someone else does, it’s a nice little run west of Asheville. Nice camping and hiking around it. The national forests out there are great. Even if you don’t do any true wheeling, just cruising the forest roads and taking in the scenery is a nice way to spend the weekend.

Thank you for the info!

I'm kind of near there in hickory but will be working that whole time you are in town. I also don't have my rig down here in NC yet (just moved from Illinois, waiting until I have a house), so it would be a stand and look at an avalon or a camry meet up LOL!!

Awesome! I'll will let you know when I know what our schedule looks like. That would so cool to meet up.

Let us know how you like Marion. Wife and I are considering moving there sometime in the future for our 2nd careers :) Looking at all options between Blowing Rock and Asheville.

I will. Our friends, with whom we are staying, moved here a year ago. They said it's a lot like the town we all live in in new Hampshire. We arrived a few hours ago. When we stopped at a rest area before arriving, it was 67 and sunny. Back home, the temp was 48. We will be exploring this week and will report.
