I didn't have booming before, I took the weight of the chassis as it wasn't doing anything, but I do know these cruisers suffer with resonance that's why they started adding weights to alter the frequency. The new exhaust was hand made so not sure what they used, but sticking my head under the truck they have stuck to the same layout as OEM, the big resonator has gone and there is a smaller box in its place, plus there is the box at the rear as before, I guess there mufflers but not sure, they hand make the mufflers/box's also on site to suit, or so they said. The tailpipe now exits the vehicle straight out the back with a round chrome tip.
The reason I had them build this exhaust was down to cost, it was a lot cheaper than OEM plus with a lifetime warranty. The shop is only 4 miles from the house so I thought what the heck, my old boss used to use them for his rally cars and it always looked good. My main concern was noise, I am a believer that no one puts more time and money into design than the manufacturer so was sceptical to get it done. My plan was to have it as quiet as possible but when they asked and assured me they could get it right, I let them add a mild sports note. There is no booming, from the exhaust and the gargle/growl can only be heard with the windows down, it's not that loud it just sounds like a V8 engine now. There is a different sound in the cab but no louder than OEM with the windows up, 70mph it's as quiet as before. There's no performance gain or lose as I can tell. So impressed with there work so far, I will wait a while before I make my final assessment as it will take time to settle in.
Some would like it, and some wouldn't, that's the thing with sound. But it will turn more heads for sure.
