I just wanted to drop a line to see if any of you had any advice on fixing up the 2 cruisers I recently purchased, one FJ60 and one FJ62. It is a long story but my wife apparently still has the blinders on, so I might keep both. Anyway, any help on SOA or other mods would be awesome. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Thanks in advance.

Frankie

Welcome! You are at the right place. Search on the 60 series forum for more info than you will ever need. Hope to see you at a meeting or trip soon!

yeah Frankie where are you located, we have a few guys in the the club, who have done SOA and are very knowledgeable all round when it comes to cruisers

welcome

I live in Columbia. Just got run inside from some of these storms coming through today. Trying to get some body work done before we head out on the road again for another fishing gig. I would love some advice on the spring over. The only thing I really need are some high steer arms. I need to find them cheap though, my budget ran over last week and I really want to get this done. Thanks for the welcome guys and i hope to see some of you soon.

Frankie, the cheapest route you can got with hysteer arms, are either marlins or allpro offroads arms...... the problem you will run into is you will have to also get custom made tie rods, since they will have to be shortened to work with the new steering set-up.

You can buy a complete kit from Marlin Crawler for around 400 bucks

you can also have your old steering arms heated and bent and the same down with you tie rods, but I wouldn't recomended this route. The steering set-up is not some where you want to cut any corners, you can get into a lot of trouble quickly if you screw up your steering.

Which cruiser are you wanting to SOA and what is you intended use for it? Daily driver or a offroad only vehicle. If you intended to do any real on road driving with the SOA set-up buy a kit from some on like Marlin, or 4x4labs....

also are you planing on doing a Cut-n-Turn of the front axle?

I will be using it as a daily driver. I am not hung on a SOA but everywhere I have looked it seemed to be the cheapest and best way to get 5" of lift out of one of these. I am about tapped out for cash on this project for now. I want to get some lift done so it will look better. Any suggestions are welcome. I need to keep it under $500 if possible. Thanks for the help!!!

I don't know a way to get 5" of lift for 500 bucks............ and make it reliable and safe enough for a daily drive.

I will have about a 1000 in my SOA, plus another 1000 will go to tires and then another 1000 after that to regear it for the larger tires, SOA's aren't cheap if done right.

if you aren't set on SOA, then a good cheap alternative would be a 2" shackle lift and maybe an inch or two of body lift, you could also install an add-a-leaf or two to your current spring packs.........that would net you some decent lift, all though it is not the best long term solution, but would get you in under 500 bucks.

what size tires are you wanting to run?

post up in the 60's tech section with your plans, they can probaly point you in the right direction
