Has anyone ever used an OEM LUK clutch assembly in their cruiser? Are these made in China or elsewhere? Made by Beck Arnley? thanks.

I have Exedy (Daikin) BJ74, HZJ73 and HJ61 kits in stock - both regular grade and heavy duty Sports Tuff for the BJ and HZJ, and add the super heavy duty Safari Tuff for the 61.

Best to call.

Daikin cluch are good. I fit daikin standard cluch kits. I found the safari tuff kits are very heavey and tear the cage nuts from under the dash that support the cluch pedle in ths 70 series.

I sell Exedy or OEM only both are very good, the Exedy is a heavy Duty on the 1HZ and is a very popular item for me, no complaints works great :D

Cheers,

Michael

From what I can gather the Luk clutch assemblies are Chinese (Asian) made. They are being flogged on EBay for under $200 US.

For my 3b Bj60 I used a NAPA made in Tiawan clutch. Cheap and seems to work. Only time will tell. Check for your application at NAPA and decide.

Okay, here's a review:

We have sold lots of clutches over the past few years, and there is certainly a quality difference between brand name name and off brand clutches. The country of manufacture in many cases makes little difference in the quality of the product, but in other cases it can make a substantial difference.

The Valeo clutches that are commonly available for the BJ series are made in Korea. They have proven to be good clutches that last a long time - but I'd like to see how they do 200,000 kms down the road. As an example, Ford factory high performance clutches are also made by Valeo in Korea and I have installed these as well and they perform well under high stress applications.

For very similar cost, you can often get a Japanese made clutch such as Exedy (formerly Daikin) which are a premium clutch brand and they are certainly better than other brands. Exedy also offers several grades of clutch for most applications - disc material and clamping force are the primary differences and the cost can climb quite dramatically between the grades.

If you're running around in a stock-ish BJ70, then you should be fine with a Valeo or similar clutch.

As for Beck Arnley, I haven't seen a clutch for the BJ series available, but they certainly are for the FJ/HJ engines.
