My only issue with this tire is weight of tire. Yes, you get the nice look of KO2. Sure, it is probably more fuel efficient than KO2…but no way is it better than stock tires or Michelin Defender...just from the sheer weight of it (45 lbs vs. 39 lbs). I can’t imagine that it has better rolling resistance than Defender or stock tires. So, fuel economy is not gonna be great.
Besides the good looks, it does not have the trail puncture resistance that goes with the extra weight. Notice that BFG mentions “occasional” gravel road. Heck, Michelin is far more boasting of Defender’s capability in their documentation and presentation! Defender was made for heavy duty trucks and gravel roads. No mention of silica compound with this new BFG tire that is supposed to be road friendly.
So, why would anyone pick this tire over say a good set of Defender or Yokohama AT GO15? Good looks and snowflake symbol? Even then, the snowflake symbol has been very polarizing in what it means. (Personally, i like snowflake but KO2 is not exactly a snow tire!
)
And i never want to be a guinea pig of any product that just came out….
