What did it do to your speedo & mileage?

Not the OP, but here are some data points given my experience.

Last week, I mounted up a new set of 275/70-18 BFG AT KO's. Yesterday, we returned from a 2,200 mile round trip drive to the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater Beach, FL. Based on a half dozen or so "Your Speed" signs, my indicated versus actual speed is 2-3 MPH slow at 30 MPH and about 5 MPH slow at 60 MPH. In other words, with my cruise control set at 60 MPH I am actually traveling at 65 MPH.

Driving this same round trip at 65 MPH in November 2009 on the OEM 275/60-18 Bridgestone Duelers, my actual average MPG was 19 to 19.5 per tank. This trip, indicated average MPG was 16 to 16.5 per tank. Factor in the approximate 8% difference from above (5 MPH/60 MPH = .083), and the MPG hit due to the heavier 275/70-18 BFG AT KO's is (19 MPG - [16 MPG indicated * 1.08 = 17.28 MPG actual] = 1.72 MPG). I can live with that. YMMV.

Someone please correct me if my math is wrong.

I run this size BFG on my 2003 and noticed that my factory GPS/fuel consumption thing estimates that I went from around 15.8 mpg to around 13.8 mpg around town. City, soccer games, out to eat .... no highway. I know a good portion of that loss is due to the larger diameter and the fact that I am actually covering more ground each time the tire make a revolution. I need to measure my next tanks mileage using a garmin and do the math. Those number don't lie.

Looking good 4P! I never saw that older post of yours to post up some level driveway pics. The BFG's are great tires,I am really stoked on them!! I just need a bit more lift, the tires come really close to rubbing in the front.I did hit the inner plastic cover once pretty hard and it tore it up a little. So I used some small flathead self tapping screws to tighten it back down in a few spots.

I did not know that our trucks were getting such crappy gas mileage w/only a little bit bigger tires,oh well it's not a Prius.

Hey 4P is your truck loaded up pretty good from your trip, cause it looks like it's sagging a bit at the rear? Or maybe you need more lift in the rear to match front? Time for some OME !!! Or
anyone try the Ironman lift on their 100 yet??

So Mean Green,I have not even looked at mileage on the trip computer.I have not used my Nav.system that much, mostly just for the maps. How do you get to it??

Plus your vehicle with be depreciating (from the mileage perspective) about 8% less as well! FWIW, I'm about 12% low. 60 indicated is 67 actual. Sorry officer (Fuzz! :)) it said I was doing the speed limit, are you sure your LIDAR is calibrated?

Hey 4P is your truck loaded up pretty good from your trip, cause it looks like it's sagging a bit at the rear?

Family of four, a Thule Evolution 1600 stuffed to capacity, about 200 pounds in the cargo area, 275/70-18 BFG AT KO spare, bike rack and tri bike.

It is sitting a little bit lower in the rear than my normal—maybe 3/4"—but I won't be putting firmer springs in the rear. I made that mistake on my 4Runner, and the ride was way too rough for the family. I love the way the Land Cruiser rides now, and it does so sitting 2.625" higher between the 1.5" rear coil spring spacer, cranked torsion bars, and 275/70-18 BFG AT KO's.

I'm also curious about the speedometer and odometer?
