Hello everyone.... life long Austinite here. I recently bought a rusty 1978 FJ40 that came from Pennsylvania. The tub and fenders are in pretty bad shape but with the help of a MUD member, I've located another tub for sale and I should be picking it up tomorrow. I have a long journey ahead of me to bring my FJ40 back to it's former glory but it should be a great learning experience for me. I've never had any project like this before so it's all new to me. :)

I look forward to joining Lone Star Cruisers and checking out some of your rigs in person.

I bought a 40 that lived in PA, for only a year. I feel your pain. ;)

Welcome to the FJ40 cult. There's nothing else like it.

After I got rid of some rust and sprayed it with rust reformer.

I'll eventually replace the fenders but it's not a very high priority right now.

For future reference, you can still source newToyota fenders for your 40. Around $250 each IIRC. The best aftermarket fender deal, IMO, is from Cruiser Corps in Oklahoma City. $315 for DS and PS, same gauge metal and construction quality as Toyota. I'm mounting a pair of them now.

Who's the guy in Georgia that is making new FJ40 body parts? He was at the Jamboree.

That's Oscar. His company is PACOL, or PACOLONLINE.com, something like that. His body panels are high quality but unfortunately he has a marketing agreement with SOR and once that deal was cemented, his prices went up. Way up. Marv must have told him he was selling too cheap.

Is CCOT the closest place to Austin that sells floor pans? I would rather pick it up myself than risk damage during delivery, or pay shipping costs.

Real Steel is in Weatherford. CCOT in Rowlett/N Dallas. Probably about the same distance from Austin. IIRC Real Steel is the less expensive option. I put new CCOT floor pans in my 40 a couple of weeks ago (had them installed-I don't weld). They're well made and were a perfect fit. I doubt you'd see any shipping damage. They do an excellent job of packing.

There are local Cruiserheads who travel to and from Dallas regularly. If you time it right someone might agree to pick up your pans from CCOT and truck back to Austin. Post up here when you're ready and see if anyone can help you out. You might get lucky.
