Gday
Here in Australia, many of our 100s (105s) and 80s too, have verticly split rear doors. I always assumed that the spare was offset so you didnt have to swing it, when only opening 1 door.
I must say I love the look of the center mounted spare - nice,:) but I have not seen it here.
My offset spare tyre carrier pissed me off so much - getting covered in mud and/or dust every time I had to get into the back of the car,and the latch!!! I got rid of the bloody thing! To each, there own.
However, Ive seen a few of these now, and they are a nicely engineered bit of kit.

Real simple to wire

It’s plug and play. On the passenger side just forward of the bumper are all the wires for tail lights, stop light and so on. Look for a plug already connected that matches you ARB plug. Disconnect and plug in your new wiring plug and everything will work. You don’t loose and of your existing lights they work along with the bumpers lights and the same time. There is also a trailer plug ready to go you just need to drill 2 ½ inch hole and mount. I’ll shoot a pic when I wake up a little. The factory plug matches your new plug.

Pic for electrical issue

I Reread my post and meant to say drill two 1/8 in holes for trailor wiring plug. Yes I did tighten tail light after checking dead center but before cover piece install. Can you post a pic when complete?
I found a good install place for high jack if interested.

Bloodhound, I take it that plug is on the right side between the mud flap and bumper? When you unplug the factory plug, just what are you unplugging? I'll have to look to see if my LX has this. I wonder if it's just a LC thing.

ARB elec. tie-in

Jim here's another pic. I believe you will be useing the trailor wiring at a junction block. You keep all the lights including the lic. plate functional and this add bumper lights, turn signals, brakes along with factory setup. In the wiring loom supplied you have another factory similar water proof trailor plug. I hope this helps.

Yes that is the connector we plug into in OZ!

I just took another peak underneath the right side corner above the rear of the muffler, and I don't seem to have that connector. I see 4 connectors. From the outside in, there is a 6pin w/ a single green wire coming out of it. Then about maybe 6 inches towards the center of the vehicle is a 8pin connector and a 12 pin right next to it. Next to the 12 pin connector is a 4 pin, but w/ only 2 wires (green-yellow and ground). It's mounted to a white piece of plastic that sticks to the rail. There is one slot on the plastic that seems to be empty. I also looked on the left side. No 6pin connector there, either, only 8 pin or more connectors. Guess the LX doesn't have this magical connector.

so close yet so far....

Bloodhound,

thanks for the info on the plug... i located it and plugged it into the loom out of the rear bar and..... nothing. ouch. :o The plug did not want to seat properly either, however with some wrangling it finally locked into place...

I noticed when I unplugged it the rear corner brakelight did not function, but the taillight on the rear tailgate door continued to function. I plugged it back into the original plug and the rear corner light came on. I didnt go the route of the multitester yet, however, but it seems that when plugged back into its original shape the corner came on, so there's juice. Of course the only potential would be the ARB loom and as you can imagine, the prospect of pulling the rear bumper to refishthrough the frame and examine the loom is not something I am looking forward to... Good grief.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

oh yeah, Tinkerer, I will forward some shots of the retractable spikes and oil slick nozzles... Pretty slick install, no pun intended... I think you will find the photo of the rear mounted 50 cals. entertaining!

Fuse check

beachcruiser check your fuses ~ seem to remember I blew one playing the same game when I wired mine. Did ya buy the tire carrier on the drivers side so your not creating a blind spot to the passenger as some would claim. :D Nice to have a choice.
Have fun wheeling

Drivers' side it is!

Thanks for the tip... I am actually about to go outside and check... Can we get new parts for the bar piecemeal via ARB? The poly trim that goes between the wing and main body of the bar has split.... Not a big deal yet, but annoying nonetheless.... I did go with the drivers' side tire carrier. I am about to tackle the OME lift and diff drop in the next few days and throwing on the 325/60 r 18's.... and maybe up the pressure under the rear ejection seats!
