OK, just installed!

This is on my '62. The instructions are very poor, but even with that, I was able to install in about 2 hours.

Great! I "think" I'm seeing light mounts, and what are the "cut outs" on the front of the bumper for? Could you get some better detailed pic's for us? I know its difficult to sometimes get black on black photos, but it would be much appreciated.

Done!

Any fan of Bean is a Fan of Mine!

The square cut outs below the ARB emblem are for a highlift, and the kit comes with some brackets for this purpose.

The indicator lights come with the kit, but with very poor instructions. However, once figured out, it is a cool breeze.

Recovery, we don't need no stinkin recovery.

Just kiddin'.

If Santa is good to me despite my behavior, the main recovery point will be a Warn 8000.

There are, however, two holes on the underside of the bumper which appear to be there for "D-Rings."

I am in the middle of the build, with the HAMOM happening next weekend!

Here are pics of the holes and the nice antenna mounts.

Bean rocks.

So, there's 4 light mounting tabs? I really dont see enough room for mounting lights to the bottom tabs...From what I'm guessing, you mounted the bumper on its "highest" setting? Very interesting idea for the hi-lift jack tabs...but are there any tow points?

You beat me to my questions!
Thanks

Two trail light tabs (below) and two antenna tabs (top). I plan on two antennae, one ham (Comet SSB-1) and one CB. Then, on the lights, two "BOMBER LIGHTS."

As my wife describes me to her friends and her priest, I am a "nerd.":o

One cool thing about TP's first photo is that it looks like one could mount a quick receiver hitch under the ARB bumper to allow for a much sturdier tow/pull point...an awful expensive way to go, but nice anyhow! I dont think I could rely on the holes to use as recovery points...I've seen too many things like that get cut through with hooks/rings.

Edit: How thick is the metal at the recovery holes?

Good point DLS . . .

so I went out and looked. At what I think are the mount points, "the holes," ARB has reinforced the "hole" with a second layer of steel. So, the point at where the holes are placed, it is thicker than the frame where the "snaggle tooth" hook was originally mounted. This double thickness does not show in the pictures. Put another way, the mounting point is thicker than the frame.:grinpimp:

Great to hear about the recovery points. I have a real basic question (see pic below). If "A" is for the winch, then what is "B" for?

No pic's.

REALLY good to hear that they reinforced the recovery points. I know a few of the older ones that had ripped out.

This bumper is actually starting to sound alot better than my first impressions.

I was pleasantly surprised. On a 62, it is an easy install, and once you realize that the "red connector" in the electrical kit is a splicer (not mentioned in the install instructions), the electrical aspects are also easy.

I did put it on the highest setting. Will be installing the 2.5" lift next weekend (better to intimidate the soccer moms at the elementary school as well as doing some light trailing with the club).

I also measured the weight differential between the stock bumper and the weight of the ARB Dakar. The original chrome bumper was around 30 lbs, and the ARB was at 120 lbs shipped. So, I gained 90 lbs. Not bad for the holiday season!

Here is what I made for a recovery point for my new bullbar. I used it last weekend. I painted it before the bolt in. I will use this until i get a winch.

can you buy from arb direct or do you have to go thought man-a-fre or cruiseroutfitters or somwhere like that?

I've heard that if you want one of the "cool" ARB bumpers you have to order from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.

Got mine at 4wheelparts.com. They had a 10% off sale plus free shipping. So, to my door with tax was around $800.

X2 for me also. Plus I recieved it in less than a week.

"B" Slot is ARB's "Split Pan System," which allows extra airflow to the radiator. So the "B" slot actually goes (from left to right) slot, license plate holder, slot.

It also came in handy when installing the ARB Bar, inasmuch as the static wrench on the bolt fit nicely and snugly through that slot while I used a ratchet on the bolt.

Anyone have any idea what the old style bumpers go for both new and used?

Thanks
