New Antenna Mast Scratching Sound

The antenna mast on my 2004 LX470 was in need of replacement, so I purchased an OEM replacement from my dealer, which was installed with ease (except for the very large, long scratch the old antenna made on my hood when it fell over when I released it; very upsetting!). Anyway, the new antenna moves up and down with ease, but I hear a metal-like scratching sound when it moves; minor, but there, whereas the original didn’t make a sound. What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

Does the mechanism have any grease in it? Did you happen to clean it out?

It could also be that the teeth aren't aligned.

Did you leave part of the original mast inside the motor?

Not sure if there's any grease in the mechanism; didn't clean anything and the old antenna was pretty greasy.

Otherwise, the old antenna was completely intact when removing same; so nothing was left behind.
