Just picked up a 100 LC from the local Toyota store (YUC on the price but YAY on the recon) mostly for family use but also a little for me :)

Im hoping to do a couple addons in the near future, but really I just wanna make sure i get the big things out of the way!

The rig has 141k miles on it, about to get the brakes and bearings done (warped/loose) and a couple cosmetic things fixed.

What should i look at after that?

Once things are fixed, I wanna tow and trail a little with it, what are my first steps? Do i NEED to do anything hugely mechanical or is it pretty much awesome as is?

Thanks for all the advice, this forum is awesome! Browsed if for DAAAYYYYSSS before buying the new LC.

Excited as ever.

It's pretty much awesome as is.

I'd suggest baselining the vehicle first, remove the running boards and then go.

A common first mod is to get some ATs, but it's really not necessary.

Looks like you got a good rig.

I'm definitely down for baselining it! As well as some new ATs, what brand do you guys usually recommend/how big should i go with stock wheels?

Also, i notice there is a lot of discussion about normal vs premium gas...how important is it really?

I noticed this morning that the furthest back rear window vent on the passenger side is stuck open (just barely)
Will probably need to get that fixed.

Brakes need to be repaired too, all of this should be getting done over the weekend by the dealership i bought it from.

Hopefully many good times ahead in the LC!

Make sure the vent was fully closed using the dash switch. You can accidentally leave the window ajar if you pull your finger off the switch early.

Lots of brands to choose from. Check the Tire section of Mud on the Forums page for more info. On the stock 16 inch wheels the consensus is that you can go as big as 295/75/16 with no rub and fit a spare of the same size underneath. 35's are also possible w/ a lift.

No. If the engine doesn't knock it doesn't matter.

Some purchase after market rotors and pads to improve braking performance depending on use.

Smooth as soon as I have issues with the stock setup I'll definitely look into my options in both those areas. As far as gas, WHEW cause the stuff keeps going up and up.

Cruisers are thirsty.

On the window matter, I spent some time with it today and it seems like the motor doesn't to to fully closed. :bang: Probably just gonna put that on the list of things for the Toyota guys to look at tomorrow, I have to get up and get my rig over there before work at 7. Fun times.

Hopefully this appointment will clear up any braking/bearing issues for now!

Thanks for the insights.

Where do you guys suggest getting the LC serviced in the Seattle-Everett WA area?

I probably want to check/change all diff/trans fluids would do it myself if the fluids weren't so expensive on their own..

Any input would be much appreciated!

On the window issue, check to make sure all of the hardware is tight and it's not just something that has come loose. May be possible to re-index the motor as well, as long as the motor is functional. I'm pretty sure I saw a thread on here about a similar issue a while back, may wanna give it a search...

Let it be known that today was the last day I even remotely consider getting something broken on my LC fixed by a Toyota Dealership.

Rear window not shutting, dealer quoted me 250 to remove the rear interior (it IS a big piece), 50 for a new window motor and who knows how much more for labor.

So roughly 350 to shut the back window. Ok, I guess if that's what I gotta do to be able to use my rig in the rainy city I'll do it.

As I mentally prepared to drop that money I thought "why don't I take just one last look".

Wait. That thingy right there that attached the motor to the window, it doesn't look like the one on the other side.

Actually, it looks...BACKWARDS.

*runs into garage, grabs short screwdriver*

*frantically unscrews thingy from window and detaches window from thingy.

*turns thingy around, again frantically*

*pops prongs into motor, screws thingy onto window*

*pushes button*

WINDOW SHUTS. :beer::beer::beer::bounce2::bounce2::cheers:

0 dollars vs over 300 dollars, I take free.

Now if I could just figure out this ticking noise coming from the passenger front brake area which (cue boo hiss) seems to have started after the dealership "resurfaced" the brakes :bang:

I desperately need to stop fixing things and start using the beast!
