new 2000 owner with suspension questions

I just bought a 2000 LC and am considering a lift with some bigger tires.
OME seems to be the most popular choice that I've seen. If I install this lift how big a tire will I be able to run? From what I've read in here it looks like 18" wheels are available and will work.
I also keep reading about sliders. What are sliders?

Can someone give me a list of the best combo of things I need to do this. I don't want to cheap out and will replace whatever is needed to do this lift correctly and safely.

I've obviously not had experience with a LC but have lifted several other vehicles in the past and I'm over the beating yourself to death driving down the freeway thing!

Any insight is appreciated.
