Hey guys,

Just want to say thanks for the tech on the 100 series cruisers as its helped us pick the right vehicle for our needs.

Having a bj42, and a hdj80 its a natural evolution to get a 2003 UZJ100R to replace the 80. The wife is slowly getting used to driving it over the Lexus IS200 we're selling..

The cruiser has 195000kms on it. It hadnt had the timing belt replaced so we got that and the waterpump done as a condition of purchase. It came with dual battery setup, snorkle, twin tip exhaust (not sure of headers), ARB Side steps and ARB Deluxe Sahara bar.. Still learning about the vehicle and finding other little surprises around the place (LED strip inside the bonnet lip for night time engine bay work).

The plan is for it to be a daily driver as well as get us to Fraser Island with other camping spots around the place. Also hoping to tow my 40 with it as well on the odd occasion.

Anyway.. some pics of the new ride.

The only remaining mod I need to do is a roof rack for all our gear. I wanted to get a Baja Rack Utility rack (as seen here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/467110-bajarack-utility-rack.html ) but have a question for those with sunroofs and the utlity rack.. Have you had to space the rack off the bracket so you can tilt the sunroof? If so how much?

I'm currently working with the Baja Rack distributor here in Australia to find out whats possible. He only JUST got a recent pricelist with this rack on it.

Contact Sergio at Baja Rack and he will cut a hole in the rack for your sunroof before he ships it.

I have the same setup. Sunroof has just enough room to tilt up. Doesn't contact the rack but it's close.

Thanks for the heads up. so you haven't had to space the rack up at all? Is it possible to get a photo of just how close it is and how high your sunroof tilts?

I took this photo of a steel rule in the middle of the roof to measure how hit it goes:

Well my Utility Bajarack arrived today and it didnt take long before I was trying to fit it.

But heres a trap for young players (like myself). It appears the front most roof rack bolts are approximately 200mm rearward than those on standard 100 series landcruisers. This means that the mounting plates on the rack don't match up with the brackets on the roof...

I recall seeing some Sahara's optioned with roof rails, and others that cross the roof...

Does anyone else have any more info on this?

Did you pull the black plastic channel off? Sounds like you're looking at the set of holes close to the rear of the sunroof, when in fact there should be another set of holes a little further forward, about 200mm actually.

Here's a pic that shows all 4- hope this helps!

I think the Baja's skip that 3rd set, as most aftermarket racks also do.

Hey Nakman, thanks for that but I figured that out eventually and got the racks installed.

I tried to drill through the cover first but ended up cutting them so I could bolt in the mount.

Also got a Scan Gauge 2 and mounted it:

Currently trying to figure out a speedo issue. I find after some long drives the speedo is consistently 15kph under what the speedo reads. on short trips the speedo is correct with 2 separate gps's.

I need to try and find a situation where I can reproduce this issue reliably.
