Nice! Glad to see it minus the chromies. Very nice looking truck.

Got to take the cruiser out and get it dirty.

Hit up the Salton Sea for a rare stink-free visit:

It's a fun spot close to home:

Timing belt and 2 tensioners replaced at the dealer. I feel lame for not doing it myself but with a newborn and a garage filled with a non running rock crawler I needed to get it done ASAP.

Next up, baselining all the fluids.

Awesome pics! Where were they taken? It looks like really large grain sand type stuff. It didn't even get the tires dirty? Sometimes I wish I lived out west! LOL

So two questions,
How did the cruiser do in that sand? Did you air down? If so, what psi did you air down to?

What filter/photo editing program are you using. I love the look more than most filters.

Nice pics!

PS Nice choice in tires, but should have left the white lettering on the outside!

Black side out is how we do it on the West coast.

Haa. Agreed, when I grew up in the North East it was all about RWL. Here in SoCal you never see them.

It was at the Salton Sea. That "sand" is actually bones. I took my best friend and his wife who is an amazing photographer/blogger and she wrote about it here:

It did terrible in the sand. I had 50psi in the tires and didn't bother airing down. :hillbilly:

My pics were all done using my half destroyed iPhone 4s and an app called Camera+. It's great considering it was only $.99c.

Nice pics!

Thanks!

You got it. The only time I like RWL is on race trucks. It just looks right on a trophy truck with Baja TAs, to me.

You should have seen my crawler when I got it. Marty McFly bumpers and BFGs with RWL. I had to rectify that quickly.

50Psi??????
I don't even have that in my tires on the tarmac.
When going on the beaches here in Perth, WA I go down to 15psi.

Looking good but you really need to get those running boards off now, and that's a pretty good looking 80 behind your 100

All in all it was a fun trip and Berdoo canyon is always a good time. Wish we had more time to spend there.:crybaby:

Couple weekends later we went to Johnson Valley (AKA The Hammers) with my inlaws and had a great time. Since my crawler isn't ready we got to hike up all the trails rather than drive but it was still a fun time.

Had a generally great time hanging out with family and enjoying the outdoors. That's why I got into this sport and why I "enjoy" my terrible fuel economy.

Did some full throttle hill climbs to get up a large sand hill to get over here (gotta love that VVTi):

All I all I can't wait to get back to Johnson Valley. This is my new favorite place and once I finish my crawler it should get even better.

I personally like the Toyota 20" platinum wheels (repainted to a matte finish), just wish they came in an 18" size, however I have considered it, because there are some options for a 34" narrow MT, which I think would be nice.

If it would had the Toyota wheels I wouldn't have minded. I just wasn't ready to go wheeling on junky aftermarket wheels with no name tires.
