Hi All,

Just an introduction... John here;

I just acquired a 2000 UZJ Cruiser after being the owner of two 97 FZJs, the last one taken from me in an unfortunate accident and subsequent insurance battle.

I shopped well and ended up with a black 2000 with 78k miles. Very clean and quiet (weirdly quiet) after my 80s, but I'm not sorry I have it! :-)

Quick question... what makes this engine (4.7 V8) perform its best, aside from the recommended high-test?

Thanks!

Looking forward to future discussions.

John
2000 UZJ 79K miles (yes, 79k!) ;-)

Congrats and welcome to the group, a 2000 with 78k is a very nice find. Now get that thing in the woods and put some scratches on it! :D

I put 87 in mine because I'm cheap and gas is expensive.

Pics??

Congrats on the purchase. Great find with low miles. I run mid grade through mine and have for the past 35K miles. I don't keep up with the mileage because i know it's bad!

Compared to the 80, the 4.7 performs quite well as it is. Some folks are putting headers on (search for DT header threads - Doug Thorley?). And built 80's seem to be about the same price as older stock 100's.

No idea. I use 87, k&n filter, 0w30 m1 without issue.

Welcome to the club.

Why'd you decide to switch to the 100? I always find myself wondering if I should by a built 80, sell the 100 and pocket the difference.

Unless you find yourself going offroading every weekend and never ever needing to tow something, trust me, don't. :)
