I am pretty sure I know the answer to this, but wanted to run this by everyone...

Had some starting issues attributed to NSS. Upon further inspection, my connector was in bad shape and the two larger wires had cheapo connectors crimped on by PO and jammed in the connector housing.

Got new pigtails and connector from dealer. That's solved.

I have intermittent shift indicator lights and recently realized I have no reverse lights (bulbs are tested and good all around here.)

When I took the pins out of the connector housing to switch them over, I noticed that two of them had the male ends from the NSS broken off in them. Ugh...I can look these up in the EWD, but I am sure this is causing my light issues.

So my question, is there any possible way to repair these male ends directly within the NSS or is my NSS hosed because of these $0.10 metal pieces??

THANKS AND HAPPPPPPPPY NEW YEAR!

Yes you could cut off the old pins, then recrimp new ones back on, I have no idea if you can get them from Toyota. I work in aviation and we do this all the time, you could just get some new pins male female and plug style you want and just redo it all

Thanks! I was just concerned, because from what I can see in the pictures I found the male portion of the pin is not accessible within the opened NSS...Now I haven't been able to take mine apart just yet. Particularly wanted to have a replacement available just in case it didn't go as planned. If someone has an old one laying around perhaps they can take a peek for me!!

I would just get a new one, they weren't designed to be serviceable and if you were able to open it up and access the connector area I would worry about if it would be water tight

Yeah I figured as much...just unfortunate it needs to be replaced over such a miniscule item...but then again, who needs reverse lights! Lol.

In the front of the Toyota electrical wiring diagram manual there is a section that'll give you complete instructions on the correct way to replace those pins. And yes, both the male, and female pins along with their plastic connectors should still be available from your local Toyota dealership.

Here is a link to the manuals with the part numbers for both plastic waterproof, and non waterproof connectors. Plus another manual on how to repair those waterproof connectors and that manual also contains the factory part numbers for those metal male and female connector pins.

Thank you very much for posting this!!! I was in fact able to purchase the complete plastic connector along with the applicable female terminals with pigtails. I bought this from the dealer. This helped with getting the connector 100%

Now the actual pins that come out of the NSS are broken off. I may not be seeing it in the Connector Repair Manual, but these all seem like they are terminals which are connected to wires?

Perhaps I need to take off my NSS and take it apart...I assumed the male terminals that came out of that were perhaps soldered in.

Anyway, thank you again!

Your welcome, this is what being a Mud member is all about, helping one another! Cheers.

Best way is to pull over the other side. Much easier to work with and change the connector. Part # 90980-11332

Thanks part number is immensely helpful! however what do you mean by “pull other side” thanks
I greatly appreciate your help! :-)

Pull the wiring harness over the transmission.

Unfortunately when I looked up the part number you gave me it comes up as an oblong plug ...
the one I need is one of the pair coming out of the NSS which is round has two rows of three and one row of two on it.

What year is your truck? Should've asked that earlier.

@Dan Skye unfortunately I don't have that part number. Just the one I gave you from the newer connection. Hopefully someone will chime in here and help ya!!
