I stupidly removed the nut all the way from my negative battery post clamp and lost it down in a metal body pocket, perfectly placed to eat the thing (under the battery tray). Tried fishing it out, but it’s not possible. I went to O’Reilly’s and Ace to find a replacement nut, but none seem to fit the thread! Tried an m6, m7, different pitches… anyone know what kind of nut this is?

You can take the bolt out and bring into the store. Thread is boogered up a little. Might need replacement altogether.

10mm wrench, M6 thread on mine. Square head bolt if you don’t want it to spin in place.

Yeah, you'll likely need to either replace the bolt or run it through a die to chase the threads. It looks like it fell victim to trying some different pitch nuts.

As mentioned above your bolt threads are chewed up and a new nut may not spin on. Go to auto parts store instead and buy new square head battery bolt + nut, ideally metric with same size head as your + terminal so you don't need multiple wrenches to remove.

Thanks, team — I ended up just swapping out for a new m6 bolt. No square heads at the store, but it’ll do. Looks just the same as my old one in the not-chewed up part, but I dunno what happened. The m6 nut I tried first with the old bolt just would not go on there.
