This might be a bit of a longshot ......
I am undoing the electrical damage from a Saudi spec 1984 FJ40 ex police vehicle.
A correct electrical schematic would be a great help!
I have a 1984 USA spec electrical schematic, but there are differences.
Mine has no relays, no emission controls, no cooling fan and it looks like the fuse box configuration is slightly different.

Does anyone out there have what I need?
cheers to all.

Did you have a look at this PDF File?

I got a wiring diagram for non USA FJ40 but its dated 1978.......

So it does have the newer tub and disc brakes on the front?
It should........but my 1978 still had drumbrakes and no smog stuff when it was bought in germany.

Pat,

I have two factory manuals:
EWD36679A Labelled 1983 Land Cruiser Wiring which actually runs through 1987. This manual is probably what you have.
I also have
98154 Chassis/Body 1975-1980 , which has several pages of wiring schematics in the rear labelled FJ40 Series(Except USA and Canada).

My experience with the Middle Eastern trucks is that they are much, much simpler wiring than USA variations, and have many unconnected parts of the wiring looms just hanging loose, for items never offered into the general World Markets. For example, most trucks where you are came without heaters yet still have the wiring for it in the looms.

I have yet to buy the expensive Chassis/Body Manual 8/80-10/84 (cost $180) which I understand covers World models as does the 98154 manual, and probably is exactly what you need.

Maybe you can ask someone here to photograph and email the correct diagram pages for you or see if a Saudi dealership sells the Manual you want. I'm not that technically savvy yet.
HTH.

Thanks 4 That

FJ40 Garage - thanks and yes I do have the 1978 pdf.
It's a good reference but missing some items like digital clock and A/C, and shows only 1 fusable link. It also has circuits for loads of equipment that I don't have.
- mine has drums all around, but I'm not sure what you mean by newer tub.
Saudi spec has full floaters in rear, fog lights, vent windows, no louver / vent on the hood in front of windshield, split 16" rims, power steering usually and no heater usually - but I do have one.
No winches or roll bars here either.

Bear - thanks for your feedback. I think my loom is for 3rd world countriy spec just because there were so many of them made for the Saudi market - there was no spare connectors or loose wire ends - except for the ones they butchered or cut off like buzzer, seat belt warning.

The other day I spotted a vehicle hauler with heaps of brand new Land Cruiser pickups heading inland from the port - all had snorkles!

I'm always hunting & hope to find all the correct manuals down the road.

cheers

Is your petrol tank outside the cab or beyond the co-drivers seat? Inside=Old Tub Outisde= New Tub

In that case, my tub is newer - not under the passenger seat.
What really makes my tub " new " is the lack of the cowl / vent that is usually located midship and in front of the windshield. Some 1984's still had it and my 1983 has it.
No, for sure it wasn't removed and covered up - I had the entire vehicle down to bare metal.
Cheers

New Tub and drum brakes all around.......Toyota= nothings impossible.:meh:
They knew what combo to sell to which country to make it easy to maintain them.
I guess it might be hard to find a exact electrics write up unless you visit one of the dealers in the country they were sold.....:hhmm:
1978 could be very close with the setup, no smog stuff?.....same here in germany for that production year.

...missing some items like digital clock and A/C...

I'd sure like to see a picture of your digital clock. I just installed one from a 1992 FJ62 in my 1984 GEN FJ40 here in Switzerland - and I see nowhere on the wiring diagrams I have the cabling for the digital clock, although my truck indeed had an empty plug in the loom for such a clock.

The 1978 PDF is closer than the FSM for my truck I have with publication date 1992.

I'm also undoing PO wiring tricks preparing for a diesel install (want to start with a clean slate before I hack into it :-)

Mods include:
-a 24V transformer wired in for a trailer socket (behind heater duct
-wiring for a 12 V socket hooked to the lighter & the mustard switch
-wiring for oil & air pressure lights & air pressure meter
-a tap into the front signal lights
-the alternator switched sides
-fusible link(s) removed
