You know i am still inclined to agree with you. He is on of the most pleasant people i know. Maybe in my sleeplessness i divulged to much. All i know is the 60 i drove has a very solid and quiet 4spd and tranny, and the one that went into my truck was on it's last leg. I really dont know what to think, however I do know something is off. I also knew other people would have a much different experience with him, and that's why I did not use his name. I also feel terrible for the kid who bought my rig, and i want to get it fixed without smearing anyones good name.I concur with FJ40LVR. I know a gentleman that fits that description and have dealt with him for over 7 years. He is very knowledgeable and I have never known him to be anything but fair and trustworthy. Most folks know that he does not need me to defend him but I felt compelled to respond.

Thanks inkpot. The tranny and case both have an extreme amount of metal shavings, a very large amount. I would be interested in the h55 for myself, but Im not footing the for himHowdy! Noisy is one thing, shot is another. I doubt that both the transmission and transfer are equally bad. I would try to get some better diagnosis from more experienced 60 owners. I have seen transfer cases get very noisy due to the bearings in the idler gear going bad. They sit very near the top of the gear oil "full" line, so if a case has run low very much, those needle bearings start breaking down. Might be something else. On the other hand, I know where he can get a H55 and rebuilt split case transfer, but it alin't cheap. John
