OK, will need to get some wires into the cab from the engine bay, both for a brake controller and to rig some engine temperature display I'm thinking of putting together. Is there a preferred way to get into the cab, either through the firewall or under? I've seen some references to a rubber grommet someplace but not sure where. Or is there an obvious spot to drill a couple of holes?
thanks

added: any recommended connector/grommet/goop to waterproof the hole through the firewall or floor?

There's already a few rubber gromets in place that that you can just slide a wire on through. Look around the firewall on the DS and you'll see them coming out.

If you do have to drill a new hole, make sure to use a grommet in the hole to avoid cutting the wires with the sharp edge of the metal.

The famous grommet is about one inch in diameter located below the brake master cylinder. It's thin-walled, so easy to cut thru. You could cram a whole lot of wires thru there before you would need to start cutting into your firewall

I found the grommet on the US Passenger side to be a little less used. I cut the tip of off one of the nipples in the grommet and ran the wires through it. Just another option...

Yup, theres two unused ones. One on either side in about the same place.
For a brake controller, there's plugs in the back as well.

where are these in the back?

saw indeed some plastic "plugs" about an inch across on the fender side of the master cylinder (not below though) and about the same location on the other side. These nipples are clever, can wrap some tape around them and the wire and should be OK. The DS has a flat plug though. Are there some gizmos to use to waterproof a wire through a hole?

I overcut a slit in mine, so I used some 3M weather stripping adhesive... just gooped it around the open parts. It's kind of half-ass, so not very proud of myself on that one. Drilling a hole in the rubber grommet would have been much cleaner.

Make a TINY slit and push the wire through. That way, the wire's tightly held by the rubber membrane and will grip and provide some water resistance. I also put a dab of RTV on the wire once I've got it where I want it, then pull the wire a half inch in such a way that it pulls the RTV blob against the rubber membrane the grommet's made of.
