Need new tires before the end of sept. Usage will be 95 precent highway, soft beach sand on occasion, New York winter snow and VT skiing/boarding (no hard core stuff and no lift) I would like a more aggressive tire then the stock Michelin latitude tour HP that's on there now.
Good year duratrac 275/70/R18, KREITEN
BF KO2 with TRD rock warrior 275/70/R17 or stock size, ARICH
Michelin MS 2 guessing stock size, but still a bit boring.
Sorry to beat a dead horse just always had stock tires on all my trucks except a pair of Pirelli scorpions on my old rover.

I have similar needs from a tire, maybe not the beach sand, but I would expect these tires to perform as well as any if not better then stock in sand.
The Yokoham Geloander AT/s are my top pick for what you described. They are available in the LC's OEM size.
I found them to be very quiet, smooth and comfortable ride, I would say smoother then any of the OEM tires that came on my LCs. They offer a much more aggressive look compared to the OEM high performance street tires, yet are quiet and still ride smooth.
I now have them on both my LC 200s.

I frequebtly recommend Cooper AT3's as I ran them on my 4Runner on and off road: in rain and snow, on sand, and even the occasion rock garden and loved them. I plan to upgrade to them from the OEM tires in the not so distant future. Some might also consider Cooper ATW's but I can't speak to them personally. Anyway, don't take my word for it:

How about 275/70r18 the new Michelin ltx defender? It's the new version of the ms2, or just go ms2. for what you do I would do that. At tires will not ride as nice and you will take a hit on gas mileage... If your not going to go off road stick with highway tires. IMHO

Would love another Michelin (nothing but great luck with them on all vehicles) but the are so damn boring looking.

I was never a fan of either of these, don't know why either as im sure technology has changed.

Thanks for the info fellas.

The Revo 2 doesn't get enough love on this forum, but they get high praises on 4R, Taco, FJ circles.

I just ran the Toyo AT2 on 17" Rock Warrior wheels for 5000 miles out of KY, TN, Amarillo, Taos, Ouray environs, over some the front range passes and then back. I averaged 19.8 with a 1000lb load and running the speed limit unless off road (about 600 miles). They are not E load range but never missed a beat. I run Blizzacks in the winter on 18s. And I set the pressures at 30PSI for the entire trip based on load tables. If you were regularly in need of sliders I would go to load range E. The P-metric on RW wheels equals the stock tire/wheel unsprung weight.

Are you saying you averaged 19.8mpg with these tires?

I just put a set of Michelin LTX M/S2 in 275/70R18 on my 08. I have about 500 miles on them so far and have not had a chance to try them in the rain or on the beach, but they are very quiet on the highway.

Sinister and I live in the same area. I love the Michelin MS2 tires but the aggressive look of the KO2s changes the whole look of the truck.
I've caught people taking pics of my truck three times since moving to TRDs and KO2s.
Love the MS2s but love the looks of the KO2s.

I have to agree solely on their manly appearance, the KO2's have it.

Yes, rather amazing. Cruise control is better at delivering MPG than I am. Generally I don't monitor mileage much but when sampled I was always shocked. These tires are nominally 33's but the highway radar signs heading into construction areas matched the digital speedo readings very closely. Climbing at 12000 feet on gravel or a creek bed takes its toll of course but it seems to average out. A few months ago I got caught in a 100 mile long construction zone patrolled at 55. That yielded nearly 25 MPG. Another shock. Around town near our farm in Kentucky I get the much more common 14-16. I also monitored tire pressures down in Texas with the ambient at 99. I thought maybe the 30 PSI might be too low. Coming out of gravel onto pavement showed the contact patch about perfect and the pressure rise from a cold start was only 1.5 lbs. I was beside a 4Runner with the BFG KO2s in Ouray. Nice looking tire and more aggressive than the Toyos. I cannot complain in the least though.

I'm working on a price for 5 KO2 now. Should know in a couple days. For some reason all the the tires I look at, I keep coming back to the KO2 because the look of them on the stock rims. All the reviews seem outstanding since the upgrade from the original KO. I like the TRD wheels but the 17" rim seems a tad small when power Coated all black. I keep going back and forth giving myself a head ache.

I have the 275/70r18 ko2 looks awesome , drives great, great in the snow, great traction too

I highly recommend that you go for the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. They don't just work well on highways, they also work great in snow too.

I agree. I've had good success with the Revo 2 on other vehicles. They were great in snow/ice and very mild mannered on the highway. They're just not an overly aggressively styled all-terrain tire so they fly under the radar...kind of like the Michelin LTX A/T2, which is what I run on my 200 series.

Ok KO2s were installed, what tire pressure are you Guys running?

I'll post here, too, in case others running this same size tire (LT275/70-18) are interested:

"The Book" says you should be running 40 - 41 psi F/R. I'd recommend starting at 40 psi (would not go any lower for onroad use) and bump them up from there, if you want, to see how they feel.
