Can you guys point me to the part number for the long plastic covers under the roof racks on an LX.
Must have lost one side in a car wash.

I’ve thought about this and think I know why they are there.I have lost all on one side and decided to not do anything or ask Toyota to replace (mine is 1 year old with 11k miles and under comprehensive warranty) as they do not seem to have a purpose, can actually encourage dirt and humidity build up and perhaps rust eventually and can not be seen unless you are maybe the tallest person on this planet...
All in all a good piece(s) to lose so it seems, unless somebody can tell me their duty and I change my mind.
I have a few of these missing. It's funny because where they're missing is fairly clean. No dead leaves or dirt. After I lifted one of the pieces, it was full of dead leaves and dirt/mud. I noticed this when I was exchanging my stock roof rack for a LC one.I have found that cleaning the area well before installing the strips does a good job of keeping them in place. Friction between the rubber and body, without a layer of decomposing organic material to lubricate it.

That channel is where body panels are welded together, then sealed with some kind of rubber sealant, then painted.
I suspect the rubber strips are to keep the bulk of dead leaves and pollen from collecting there and decomposing, attacking the paint then sealant then weld. Ultimately, to avoid corrosion and leaks.
Also it seems they provide some measure of UV protection to the area.
So yeah I’m going to keep mine in place. So far all I’ve had to replace was the one that was missing when I bought the truck at 105k. 170 now mostly from trips, all of mine have stayed.
I only have my experience to go with, and the fact that toyota apparently tested these and sent them out as designed with no adhesive. My assumption was that when the strip and body area are as clean as new they should stay.. and so far that has worked for me.I have a few of these missing. Yep. All orientation is from the occupant perspective. Now, what is left hand side in the parts manual world? Driver side?
