I'm thinking of buying the leather seat covers from MetricTLC for my LX450 and am looking for an upholsterer in KC to install them. Please let me know if you have any recommendations.

Thanks!

There's a place in North KC on Swift that does auto upholstery. I haven't done business with them, but they always seem busy when I drove past there shop on my way to work everyday.

Is it really hard to install them? I disassembled the seats in my FJC and reinstalled the upholstery when I put in the seat heaters. All it took was a few basic tools and a pair of hog-ring pliers. If you can find someone's tutorial online to walk you through the steps, you can probably do it yourself.

I've used Cho's to have covers made, did good work. dont know if he installs.

I need leather for my 80. Send me some more info on MetricTLC.

I used to build seats for F150s. It isn't hard to place form fitted foam on a steel frame, slip material over it and fasten.

FWIW, I checked into having someone local do my front seats on 96 LC. I went to Mid America Auto Interiors just off 87th Street in OP. They have done a couple headliners for me in the past, and the seats for a friend's 'vette. They do good work, so I felt comfortable. They quoted me $750 to do the front seats in vinyl, and $1100 to do them in leather. I can buy the kits from one of the vendors on 'Mud and get a better deal, with some of my time involved to change out the material and then cushions. I plan on buying the kit from a 'Mud vendor and doing it myself when the time comes, strictly because of raw cost, and I like to have new challenges and do my own automotive work. I am extra picky in what I do, perhaps more so than many people that do things for a living. This may also allow me to add things like armrests when the time comes. I actually like the armrests from a 1998 Dodge Caravan for how they look and fit.
