now, as i am thinking about this, the old F motors (FJ40) had the airbox on the LHD side...no?

Crusher did you have the pipes mandrel bent, are the pipes tiged or brazed, stainless or mild pipe.
Does the exterior pipe have to go that far along the fender I was thinking of entering in from the rear of the filter,I will have to think about this and see if I can rotate the filter box for a shorter in tube.
This may interfere with the turbo installation I will have to do some mockup and measuring I would like this as clean looking as possible.
Was that your pref for the prefilter,
Which is better the safari or OEM

wow,
okay,
i like the short flex tube so that is one reason for the length of the snorkel.
i like the looks of the snorkel which is another reason (purely personal taste).
i like the extra mounting plate for strength and the longer the distance between the plates, the more stable and strong the mount... another reason.
finally, i wanted a factory look to the bonnet area and a long flex tube just doesn't look clean.
the air box is a stock factory box so the design for "swirling" the air to get rid of dirt particles is not changed.
the lining up for the turbo intake tube necessitated the location of the air box.
i like the idea of the cyclonic dust seperation of the factory snorkel cap and it looks factory vs the Safari look which, although streamlined, looks cheap (once again personal tastes).
the pipes came from Zeskster here on mud, stainless and used regular welding since i was getting the pipe PC anyway.

i hope this explains why i did what i did. clean, functional and factory looking was the goal.

My HJ47 air intakes for my 12ht turbo motor

This is my first reply on this forum, and this is how i have plumbed the air intake for my HJ47 with a 12ht turbo motor.all stainless and donaldson air filters with pre filters, the motor has twice as much air available, and i am getting 13 klms to a liter at 90 klms per hour, also the motor runs cooler with this system.

Cheers for now......Ausie Bill....Australia.
