I got some 80 series front axle parts and wanted to know if leading axle arms are same size as 79 series. Other than panhard, axle tube, and tie rod what can't be used on a 79 set up?

thanks in advance

I believe all front radius arms on toyota coil front ends are the same. My lj78 is the exact same as a 80 series so i would think 79 would be the same as well. Steering parts are different i would imagine though. knuckles may be different as well.

78/79 and 105 series are same part number. 80 series is its own. Not sure about LJ's

if you show a photo with arrows indicating from where to where I'd be happy to measure them on my 78 if necessary

I will try to get an image together. I need the measurement from the center of rear to frame mount (bolt) to centers or front two bolts. I will assume angles are roughly the same.

thanks in advance

So after doing some numbers research it appears that full size land cruisers use two different part numbers for the arms. 48610-60022 is good for 80 series, and 70/71/74 series while 60040 is used in 78/79 and 105 series.

The prado use 60012/60013 and not anything I and looking for.

I need to know how close an 80 series arm is to a 78/70-105 series. I believe if I can get the measurement from the rear bolt hole to the two front holes I can do the math.'

sadam husain= thanks for the image it clears up some of the mud.

Does this mean if you have a lifted 80 series and fit prado arms to it you won't need drop boxes to fix the castor issue?

sorry Rick, i thought I had subscribed, but not it seems and only just saw the responses. i should be able to measure up in a few days time.

BTT still looking for someone to go out to their troopie or pick up and measure from center of rear bolt to center of both bolts supporting the axle (I can measure and compare the 80 series/swb 70 and 76/77 arms soon)

Have 79 arms on a HDJ81 they are identical.
Best bet is to start swapping, you'll be amazed at what fits.

What was the reason for swapping them over

My bushings were worn, had noticed lots of extra stock laying around and asked for a pass out.

I had sets of both 80/70/74/76 series and 79 series arms on the ground today.

80 series (from 76 series truck) had "ok 27" stamped on them.

79 series had "H11" stamped on them.

All holes and bushings matched up as far as we could tell with no discernible differences between the two sets of arms.

Its actually the opposite. The 80 arms look to have a few more degrees of castor built in.
If you had a lowered 80 (stoopid) prado arms would correct the steering I would think....
