First I need to find a place to purchase bushings. I plan on installing Chevy leafs on the rear of my 60 and will be making my own hangers, shackles etc, so I need to find a source for leaf spring bushings other than the usual Cruiser specific suppliers such as MAF, CCOT or SOR. I would like to find a supplier that sells them by size and not application. Even the big suspension part companies like Energy and Performance list their bushings by application only. The bushings will probably end up being 1.5” OD X 5/8 ID or ½ ID. Anyone sell by size?

Second question, kind of a newbie question, but what’s the best type of bushing for a rock crawler? Is it better to go with rubber with steel sleeve, or polyurethane with steel sleeve or polyurethane w/o a steel sleeve. The brand new leaf springs I plan on getting come with rubber bushing with steel sleeves. Would it be worth the extra cost and effort to press them out and start out with polyurethane bushings and greaseable bolts and pins?

For a rockcrawler the rubber bushings are going to allow more give. The polys are good for a rig that sees the road.

maybe ask dan at ruff stuff about the bushings. thats what he supplies for shackle and springs. they have an od of 1 1/2" and id of 3/4" then get some hydraulic hard line with od 3/4 and wall thickness of .049 i think for sleeves. if your'e going with poly that is.

Do you have any NAPA stores around your area? The one that is local to me can search bushings by size, regardless of application.

rear 88 chev 1/2 ton 1.5 od and with metel tube 9/16 id, for 2.5 wide springs and these are poly , let the spring werk , not the bush , rubber will constantly split and leaf your rig slopy. i stoped running rubber after i changed am 5 times. poly is the only way to fly
