I got a 91 truck with a 22re efi. Recently it has been feeling like there is a problem and its starving for fuel, and when the rpm's get up it will kick back in. This is a bit sporadic for it to act up (not all the time, once or twice the engine light came on, one time the light came on, engine died, the fuel injection fuse was blown, every time it would try to start it would blow again and they said they fixed a wire for it, another shop said that wire had nothing to do with fuel injection), and after 3 shops and over 1000$ in "repairs" it is still doing the same thing, and no shop has any idea..... It seemed to clear up after it was inside (thinking maybe water or wire problem somewhere) but after taken the pressure washer all over and under it cant be forced to cause the problem. Now there talking about a piece that’s on the air box (it has some sensors in it and stuff, top of the air filter) and some bigger $$ (this doesn’t seem to be the original one as well) but im a little reluctant.... They put in new wires, plugs cap, coil, fuel pressure check, timing check and a whole slew of other things and seem to be guessing. I know with a old jetta there was a ground wire that would short to the gas tank and caused a similar sporadic problem, but they went over the wiring fully... one shop charged 250, said some wire was bad, next shop said nothing wrong with it. Can anyone give some help?? PLEASE!!

Thanks
Arron

Well I have a 95 pu,and I was blowing the efi fuse because the O2 sencor wire was bare and grounding on the cross member. Look for any wear in the wire cover.mine would blow when I'd hit a bump or go through water, take a look couldnt hurt
