Trying to figure out where the black wire off the cigarette lighter housing is supposed to go.

almost looks like fiber optic.
is that actually wire?
the exposed end doesn't look like a typical splice/terminal. and it looks like the other end is in the light bulb hole?

i don't see it anywhere on the diagram

You got it. Never seen this on a Toyota before

can you Show is the Top of your ASH TRAY Receiver / the Sliding Track itself please

remove it and provide Very Up-close and Personal TECH photos of it ...

the whole Fiber-Optic ......black Flexible wand Gizmo was a 1st Gen Attempt to Illuminate the Ash Tray interior in the same manner the FJ40 and FJ55 Light Switches Starting in 1973 and Cressida O/D Pull Switch as well ,,,,,

i will speak straight talk here as always , it was a WEAK and SAD 1st Rodeo By Mr T , for 1 main key point reason , that inner Fiber-Optic Wand Core is a Fraction of the O/D outside Diameter of the Pull Switches Solid Core non-flex Fiber-optic

i have put my best HIGH Lumen LED 8000K cool White and other Color Temperature Spectrums in the main lighter bulb socket and my results even after polishing out each end by hand with NU-FINISH ,,,,,,,,,

simply was and for ever shall be " The World is Still Flat " technology not worth any further exploration ....... i rate it on the Barret Jackson 1- 10 rating scale .... minus / - 2 out of 10

- ok the doom is over ,,,,,for now ...

- how would you like the Skunk-Work's Tech from someone who's been pinging away at since a teenager and his first car 12/78 FJ40 1 owner , way way before LED technology is now common place .....

- ok , , here we go :

- top of that slider track and supposed to be a Black EPDM Rubber Ovel Grommet , there is a tiny hole for poking that Sadder them Sad fiber optic silly black wire through it ....
;
- we are going to carefully delete the fiber-optic Fred Flintstone system parts as a whole , and update and upgrade you to the 2nd Gen. ashtray illumination parts and system format , that will take you from the Apollo Moon Lander to something way nicer then the Space Shuttle that is for sure ,,,

i have done this both update / upgrade , and also simply added a Ash Tray illumination to various TOYOTA's i have owned all my life

a FJ60 has both green lighted trim ring and a lighted ash tray , but my 5/89 FJ62 lacks a ash tray lamp but does have a cig green trim ring , i find that DAM Dam odd since FJ62 was supposed to be some HIGH END Top Shelf B/S at the time ? LAND ROVER class whatever ???

anyway ,

1st lets see the track and make sure you have the oval rubber grommet layout that you can just pop out 1st here ....

that will dictate much , some circa era TOYOTA's had a oval knockout metal rough in too ? pocket screwdriver pop out

OEM GREEN was more prevalent but OEM BLUE both Cig trim ring and ash tray did exist , same in kind for the AUDIO Radios of the time ....

below are some of my pet-projects both in the recent past 3-4 years to present day , ALL LED ALL the time ........

below is my LUMEN Spectrums of Light Emitting Diodes as we Humans see , T-TEN self empowerment via FSM Tutorial ..... take a moment and get your head wrapped around it , seeing is believing , but understanding is then doing .....

,..
