Why not just a 4 door regular F150 FX4 with the rear locker?

I don't see the appeal of the raptor. No where really can you get anywhere close to its limits, and its too wide and thirsty.

Where are you needing F/R lcokers and a winch on a full size truck that has 3 car seats in it?
I'd get a minivan and an offroad toy.

I had a '10 or '12 Ram (can't remember exactly) with the Hemi; I never had any trouble with it. Currently have a '17 Ford and it is AWESOME, although it's diesel not gas. I don't think you can go wrong with either... But given your situation, I'd (personally) strongly consider modifying the Tundra over the Ram/Raptor - they are just proven to be so much more reliable... or a sensible commuter and a rowdy off-road toy that could handle weekend Lowe's trips

Confused yes. I started actually looking at Tundras After your comments.

After everyone’s comments I’m now looking for a Ford raptor suspension with Tundra drive line and power wagon locking axles.o_O
That's funny, I actually started looking at Tundras too, I'm not even considering buying one. It would be such an awesome truck if you added an ARB air locker in the rear, you'd get on board air to go along with it. Put a rack to hold your RTT on it, and some heavy springs and a small lift, it could be a tow rig and a sweet camping truck for the family. Maybe add some sliders and ARB bumpers, man I like spending your money.

I am in the same boat RE: 80 is more often lacking the room I need and it sits way more than I'd like. Probably used less than 10 times a year these days. Just did another $2K+ service at Marshall's and likely listing for sale soon.

I had been looking for a pickup for the last few years for lots of reasons - tractor / Cruiser tow duty, general work duty around the farm, supplies mule for projects at the mountain house, etc. I finally decided just to wait for the new 7.3L in the 2020 F250 and glad I did. I love it so far but bought it in early March right before the world essentially stopped so only have only put a few hundred miles on it. I'll say this, I was squarely in the middle of the diesel vs gas debate for some time and the new 7.3L made it a much easier decision for me.

I feel your pain in this decision. I am also in the same position you are in at this point. I love everything about the Power Wagon. But I have decided the reliability is not there for me. I am more than likely going to go with a mildly used Tundra Limited or Platinum. Then with the money I save not getting the tricked out Power Wagon add the rear locker, suspension, and winch to it. Any hard wheeling I do will be done with my 97LC that is already built.

I'm pretty partial to the Tundras myself, though mine is a daily driver / tow rig. I don't plan on taking it wheelin', so I've never looked into putting a locker in it. I have other trucks for that. If you plan on getting a beater Cruiser to wheel, or just keeping your 80, then why does the new daily driver need to be an off-roader too? If you just plan on taking it on mild trails to go camping, then you don't need the locker. A Tundra with a mild lift and decent tires will serve that purpose. If you want it to "do it all", then put a locker in it, but if you're going to get a beater to wheel and/or keep the 80, then the daily doesn't need to be a beast. That is, unless you just want it to be, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that either.

The lockers are important at the family farm more than wheeling it. We’ve have a 03 1500HD with a winch. It’s always getting stuck in the pasture. I’ve pulled it out with my 80 and other times I locked my axles. Pasture gets soft after all this rain.

Agreed on the raptor it is awesome off road but there isn't many places to take it in NC in terms of its size... although I did see a few skill full drivers go up Daniel with one a few years back (i'd be worried about body damage on a brand new truck). Out west I have lots of friends that have, have had, them because of the wide open places to run it fast.

My vote is still for the power wagon... it makes the better "overlander" weekend camper, tow rig out out of the two.

Gotcha. That makes sense then.

Just to help add confusion to the list for ya. I saw a post about a 200.. There is one for sale in the classifieds that's in GA. Has bumpers, Aux tank, F&R lockers, and a bunch of other goodies for less than a PowerWagon or Raptor. :hmm:

Ohhh dude that would be so awesome, then we could turn it into a dual cab chop UTE and you still sort of have a pickup.

Now that's just nuts. What person in their right mind would do that?

Australia.. check out Patriot Campers LC200 Supertourer
You could have just stopped that statement at "Australia". That's enough. Sort of like "Oh, that happened in Florida."

But check out Patriot Campers 200 UTEs and you'll understand why I had to continue on, they are a work of art.

Turbodiesel Tundra.

speaking of patriot campers. The dodge they built spanked the s*** out of all their other builds in every test. The only thing the 70 series 6x6 beat the full size truck on was it could fit in tighter areas because it is more narrow. So I still say that since you mentioned you want a trail rig then a 3/4 ton 4 door version would be perfect for your needs. What truck you decide is completely up to you. But I would do a diesel version of the 3/4 ton truck if it was me. Again I am partial to Fords but it is ultimately up to you what you get.
Apart from being able to tow your trail rig you could also use it for hauling other stuff and as a camping rig. We did a 30 day multi state vacation with my F250 and the only limit was the mountain passes in Colorado. the truck with my offroad trailer was just too big for me to attempt the switch backs with my family so I decided not to try them.
