Will the 8/80-8/87 Intake/Exhaust Manifold work on a 1978 FJ40?

I have a '78 smog legal (CA) FJ40. My exhaust manifold has numerous hairline cracks and uneven surfaces due to flaking. My local machine shop asked me to look for a manifold in better condition.

I've been searching on the forum and noticed that Cruiser Dan is able to get brand new intake and exhaust manifolds for FJ60s.

25628-61020 2F..FJ60..USA; Exhaust manifold
25628-61031 2F..FJ60..USA; Intake
manifold

Would these be compatible with a 1978 FJ40?
Is it worth going with headers or fixing my current manifold? Pictures of my manifold cracks are below.

Thanks.

Smog legal headers are a great solution.

I will be back in stock in a couple of weeks.

I suspect SOR will be back in stock shortly thereafter.;)

Those cracks are bupkus. Run it and don't worry. You should see the cracks in my '76 thermonuclear reactor manifold.

My manifold was cracked and welded in many places. I had so many leaks that I decided to buy a Downey smog legal header instead of buying another used manifold that may have issues as well. This was about 6 - 7 years ago.

Yes, but you might need a new exhaust pipe. I don't know about that. You could check the SOR catalog.

The Downey smog legal header is a good solution. I've run one for ages. Buy from Mark.

I think an Fj60 set up would work, but I am not certain. The Smog header will be a much cheaper solution.

With that said, I did have Mudrak install a brand new intake/exhaust on my FJ60 and that has ended up being 100% satisfactory, just not cheap.
