Greetings, I recently purchased a 1981 40, with the non points distributor and the cap with 2 vacuum hose nipples. The front vacuum hose is connected to the VCV, the rear had no hose. The diagram says this hose is connected to the “Air Filter.”
I can’t find where on the air filter this vacuum hose connects. Any solutions?
thanks!

Hi Daily Driver, there is supposed to be an air filter on the firewall. My 81 is also missing this filter and I’m in the same position as you, trying to chase down all the correct parts (see photo of red hose from dist to firewall representing a less than ideal setup). I think I remember seeing SOR advertise having these filters in used condition for $30+ but I believe you can still get this part new from Toyota for approx. $60ish. Quick question for you. Does your distributor have the dual diaphragm vacuum advance?

Greetings Pitter Patter, thank you so much for the info. Your reply helps a ton as my rig is missing that firewall mounted air filter as well. My distributor does have the dual vacuum advance.
