I am in the process of re-doing the whole back-half of my '69'ish FJ40. I need help though with a couple of measurements as the PO did some funky stuff and I don't know what some of the stock measurements are :

1) distance between the rear shackle hangars, I know the rear spring hangars are 35" apart (as are the mounts on the axle,) but that would mean some serious inboarding for the shackle hangars as the frame widens so drastically towards the rear. Do the rear springs run parallel and I inboard for the shackle hangar, or is the spring stance supposed to widen towards the back?

2) stock distance from the rear spring pin to the rear shackle hangar pin. With the PO's creativity, I have no idea what distance this is supposed to be.

Tks for any help....

I can't help you with the answers because mine is a 77.

I can help you with a free bump back to the top.

Check out the tech links at the top of the page. In the misc. section there are 40 series frame dimensions. It's towards the bottom. Check em out.

Here ya go...springs are outboard in front and centered on frame in rear.
Center of pin to pin 42 3/8 +/- 1/8

Rear hangers are 36 1/8 from flat to flat.

Pics to make it all make sense
