Hey guys I'm about to pull the trigger on this set of wheels. They are listed as 16" Tacoma wheels, but front what I can tell they are actually 17" RW wheels. The seller told me that the add is for the wheels in the picture. Did toyota make 16" wheels in 5 lug for FJs and Tacomas? or are these legit 17" RW?

here is the pic. sorry.

I saw a very similar listing on EBAY recently. I sent a message to the seller and asked for clarification about the same thing. I also saw lower in the listing language talking about a 20" wheel. I have had no response from the seller. I am passing...

I'm going to pass to I think looks sketchy. The picture is accurate though right?

Yes, from the picture it represents a RW wheel from all I have seen. Tacoma is a 6 lug wheel.

ask the seller to give you the part number. it is stamped on the inside of the rim.

PTR45-34120 is the newest version. the older model PTR45-34080 is the same wheel, without drainage holes for the steel ring.
either one will work.
it is amazing what comes up in the descriptions for these wheels.

So I googled the shop name in Austin Texas. I called them directly, and the guy looked into it. The add actually had three different wheels listed. 20", 16", and the PN for the 17"RW. I had the worker pull the rims and they were in fact 17" RWs but.... they sold them individually and only have one left. GRRRRRRrrr. The ebay add was taken down like 5 minutes ago. These wheels are proving difficult to nail down.

There's someone selling a set of 4 Rock Warriors via Craig's List in Orlando. Claims a few scratches, says might ship, saw the add this morning, but have no idea about the seller and I'm like 75 miles away or I'd drop by and verify condition, etc.

Checked again - they are gone

This guy in Denver has 3. 2 appear good but he said the third has scratches. Hard to tell if the scratches are just on the "bead lock" or rim. I was going to get all 3 but he didn't want to deal with shipping.

I had actually seen another add by the same guy and bought the scratched up one he had as my fifth. As you suspected it was just a little scratching on the ring and nothing on the wheel itself. If you do want the other two and he wont ship I would be happy to ship them for you if you guys can work out a deal. He was a really nice guy and owns a body shop in Boulder. Also Its about 30 minutes away from me so if he would be willing to meet somewhere in between it would be helpful. Wish I had seen this yesterday and would have just offered to grab the other two while I was out there.

Thanks Ali, a set just came up next town over so I'm going to see what I can do there. Very much appreciate the offer though.

Hey all, just another guy looking for the right 17" RW wheels for a 2009 LC. There does seem to be a lot of confusion and some misinformation out there. Even searches for what I thought was the right model number (PTR45-34070) seems to point me to CL and eBay ads for slightly different versions like a 16" wheel with 5 bolts. My local dealership has said these wheels are discontinued so is it now simply a matter of finding 4 needles in a haystack of aftermarket sellers.....or might there be other good TRD options for the 2009 LC? Appreciate all help and suggestions as I'm getting low on tire tread on my current stock 18" wheels and want to do the wheel/tire upgrade at the same time.

The wheels I listed are rock warriors. They only come in 5x150 17" and mate up perfectly to 200 series. There are Trd pro 18" wheels that work too but to my knowledge these are the only 17" oem wheels that fit. I was lucky enough to find 5 for $500. The best advice I can give you is search US wide craigslist and eBay any chance you get. I was looking for about two weeks and during that time stumbled upon about 5 different sets ranging between $500 -$1200. You can get lucky and find someone who does not know their value to us.

Thanks. I thought I had found an option at Toyota of Dallas ( TRD Wheel -17 inch Forged Alloy ONE (1) PTR45-34120 ) and was ready to pay $378 each. I added 4 to my shopping cart, started ordering, entered address and shipping information ($89 for FedEx Ground) and entered my credit card. Clicked to order and got a message that "This transaction cannot be completed." My guess is that they're out of inventory....but what a crappy way of letting you know after you go through all the ordering steps.

EDIT: I'm looking at these now and wondering if there's something fishy.....other than caps, lugs, etc. not being included and them being "refurbished". aluminum-17x8-wheel-rim-69574

When Toyota TRD discontinued the RW wheels, they limited sales by dealers of the remaining inventory to owners of RW trim Tundras only. Buyers are required to provide VIN verification when purchasing. I've heard some dealers have sold without this but the majority don't. Tis is likely why you could not complete transaction. As said numerous times above, shop CL. They're out there. I've gotten a total of 6 off CL.
