in the middle of changing out clutch, rear main etc.. The freakin rear main is PITA:mad: I've gone through two already. From the pic below on the lower right hand side the outside layer of rubber was torn off as I was putting it in. Is this gone to cause the seal the leak or will this work. This is the last seal I have so the cruiser will sitting untill I can order more.

Opinions Please

TIA-

What about using Hi-temp RTV it fill in where the rubber is torn? Anybody?

Mike, go home! Just put RTV on it like Pat, Jeff and Tim told you to! It may not last forever, but it'll get you home so you can enjoy the rest of St. Pat's day!

You clown!

By the way, you've got a smudge on your forehead....:bounce2:

Hey Mike, if you're gonna get that new seal in the morning, I'd leave it on the lift and do it right. We recommended RTV not knowing you had a new one en route to be here tommorrow. No sense in putting it all back together to tear it apart again in 12 hours.

You got Q specs on those main bolts? 'Rinke can give you a hand tomorrow.

And that smudge is still on your forehead...

Have a good weekend bro.

Nice site y'all got here. Now I need to buy an FJ!

So I'm assuming no one replied besides GWCS because they didn't want to tell me how stupid it would be to not wait and get new seal. After much thought I decided to wait and I'm glad I did, to say the least. This was the first time I've done a project like this and for me it was gigantic. Total time spent was about 24 hours. The rear main seal was the biggest PITA. After getting a new seal, spent about three hours trying to tap it in w/ a rubber mallet. For the guys that have gotten the seal in this way:cheers: props to you. After no-joy with that method I ended up cutting a piece of plexi-glass and drilling holes in it to match the flywheel bolt pattern. Then little at a time turn the bolts untill the seal was seated. This worked awesome, the plex-glass was nice because you could see what the seal was doing. I wish I would have of thought of this earlier. Besides the rear main and getting the tranny back in. This project went smooth and I'm pretty F'in proud of myself for accomplishing this feat. Now my cruiser is leak free and has a nice new clutch. Thanks to Tim and Sean for all the help, I owe you

Mike, I was going to ask you how it went, but decided to check here, and low and behold...nicely done bro. Was Joel able to help? You should be proud, you tackled a big job, hit a snag and worked your way through it.

Good on ya Mike...
