Hey Guys, I have a concern about my oil pressure. I’ve noticed that my gauge hovers around 1/4 on the scale during driving. Let me set the stage a bit..

My Car is a 2020 Land Cruiser 200 HE i now have 9,800 miles on it. Did the 5K service at the dealer and i am set to go in for the 10K in 2 weeks. But wanted to know if this is normal.

When i start the car (Cold Start) the pressure qauge will read 1/2 way during idle as the car warms up a bit, it drops to 1/4.
When i start to accelerate it will go back up to 1/2 way but as the car stops accelerating it will drop back down to 1/4 on the gauge ( when no additional load)

i checked the oil level and it is all good on the dipstick. I also have now warning lights on the dash Of any kind.

If this is normal, can someone show me that their car is doing the same thing, and if this is not normal, what could it be or what should the dealer be looking for.

thanks in advance.

Normal.

Yep. At start up it will go momentarily to about 1/2 and then comes down to 1/4 after the first 5 to 10 seconds. There are many posts about this.

Funny coincidence.

My wife drove the Cruiser 3 days ago. When I got home from work, she asked, "Hey, is it okay that your oil is only at 1/4 on the gauge?"

You have a lemon. Trade your HE for my 2019…heck, you only have to pay me an additional $5k because of your catastrophic oil issue. Look at my post count…you know that i know my sh!t.

That wife’s a keeper!

Thanks for the responses. Makes me feel more at ease even though I still don’t like the way it looks. Getting ready to head out to Colorado in a few weeks for two weeks in the mountains. Let’s see how she does.

What do you mean “like the way it looks”. The needle has ridden at 1/4-1/3 on all of our cruisers from 1999 to 2020. 600,000 miles and their positions rarely change.

I kinda agree with him…why not readjust the gauge so that 1/4 is exactly 1/2 of the meter? That way, there won’t be sooooo many threads asking the same question from new owners.

I am new to the group, and recently acquired a 2019 LC200 with 11K miles. During my first drive I noted the Oil pressure gauge indicated within limits, but on the lower side of the scale. This thread was very helpful to ease concerns and I look forward to learning more from all of you about our iconic vehicles.

Actually a little before 1999.

I have a new Bentley and the temp gauge is always on the high side, close to red. Turns out the 200 degree marking is the normal temp for the W12. Seems odd to me that it is right next to the red zone.

Mine was never above the 25% mark with the 0 weight oil at any speed. More like 1/8 mark except startup. Now its between 1/4 and 1/2 after warmup which I feel is where it needs to be. 54000 on a 2019. Been this way since new.
