Need assistance Exporting a rig (1 Viewer)

Long story shortened.

Had a foreign exchange student from Germany back in the early 1980's. She came back to visit and attend my parents 50th wedding anniversary. She brought her husband and two kids.

Her husband was amazed with the old Mercedes cars still in operation in the USA.

After searching for over a year, found him the right 380SL Roadster for the right price.

Bought the car and put it in a storage unit we could figure out how to ship it to Germany.

Had to license it in my name and wait for the international wire transfer of funds. Whole other story on that.

Now it is time to get this car on its journey to Germany.

No idea where to start.

Shipping a US spec vehicle to another country should not be too hard as long as you are shipping it to yourself. I'm not flying to Germany to sign for it. Might be the easiest since this is a USA spec car.

Not too crazy with the idea of "roll on roll off rate" since this will be heading across the northern Atlantic in the beginning of winter storm season.

Any ideas of a good freight forwarder that could handle this and the necessary paperwork?

I'm a Canadian with some small exposure to your US military ... they used to like AAL (American Auto Logistics (AAL)) ... now that AAL is no longer the contractor for your DoD ... maybe they (AAL) would handle some "civvy" business? Or know someone else that they like...

The contractor for moving military cars overseas now is called International Auto Logistics. I think this is the company that does the actual shipping of POV's though: Shipping a Car to Germany from USA. Get COST. Our Reviews Say It All. Looks like lots of fees though to get out of the terminal but that would be an issue for the owner.
