Hey guys new here, I’ve been looking for a series 70 Land Cruiser for a long time. I’d love if I could import a manual one from Japan but struggling to know where to look and what to look for. Anyone have and suggestions, experience, or tips I’d love the help. Only problem I’m an 18 year old kid so got a budget that needs to stay lower than 20 thousand.

Hi, you could get a Left hand drive LJ70 or 73, 2.5 Diesel for about that in good condition imported.

Import costs are gonna take a big bite out of your budget—maybe $3-5k to get a car across an ocean and through US Customs. I’d recommend finding one already here that someone wants to get out of. Maybe look for one that needs some work (assuming you’re willing and able to do it). Check the ‘Mud classified section. There’s a guy in Colorado with an HZJ73 for relatively cheap but it needs work. Something like that, maybe?

BTW, if you haven't already found it, I wrote a thread about the "how-to" of importing a Landcruiser into the USA. You'll find it here:

There's a little information specifically about importing from Japan at around post #5.
