Need 24Volt Regulator

welcome to mud,

You could try the shops in Vancouver. Like GandScruiserparts, EBI, and then possibly try 4wheelauto in Edmonton.

Also get a quote from Toyota.

Bowwow:

Know the pitfalls my friend. 24V regulators even packed with a factory seal might have a defect (happened with me). When you get one, perform the required tests i.e. does it draw any current when everything is switched off, proper voltage regulation etc etc.

is this an external or internally controlled voltage regulator?

Call 4wheelauto.

Same problem. All of the above listed are out or don't stock anybody got any new ideas. 4 wheel auto gave me a generic 24 volt 2 wire from a newer cruiser but mine's a 5 wire and I'm not real comfortable with the butchery factor

There is more than one manufacturer making aftermarket (solid-state) voltage regulators but I believe they are all 12 Volt units.

Over the years I have seen a number of people with 24V vehicles seeking replacement VRs.

I think obtaing a second-hand VR (or swapping in an internally-regulated 24V alternator and modifying your wiring accordingly) may be your only option unfortunately.

PS. That Toyota price is extortion! (It deserves to "stay on the shelf" foreever at that price.)

Have you tried any of the regulators for industrial 24V equiptment: CAT, Volvo, John Deer, etc. I'd call their parts dept or one a parts dealer who supplies them. Here, Lordco carries a lot of 24V stuff. I suggest a parts shop closest to an industrial area where they run /base 24V heavy equiptment.

buy an external regulator from 4wheelauto. Not cheap but it's work really good. Need some modification to work.
